New Larousse Gastronomique $50 Free Delivery to Workplace from Lifetime Distributors

250

My colleague passed this bargain to me :) There are some pretty cheap books at LifeTime Distributor. New Larousse Gastronomique (Hamlyn, ISBN: 978-0600620426) for $50. Unfortunately the website is not well designed and does not like to take direct links. So

  1. Use this link to pick a region (NSW, Victoria, etc), and then
  2. Go directly to the product.

"Larousse Gastronomique", the world's classic culinary reference book, is known for its authoritative and comprehensive collection of recipes.

Here it is brought up to date for 2009 in an attractive edition containing over 900 new colour and black and white photographs. All chapters have been read and edited by field specialists, and 85 biographies of chefs have been added. Entries have also been regrouped for increased accessibility.

It is apparently quite cheap, comparing to

LifeTime Distributor does free delivery to work place, but will charge postage if you want them to be posted to home.

What happens if I work from home?

    • Ha. Good question — not everyone is enslaved in cubicles. Consider yourself lucky :)

The free delivery might have a fixed boundary as these guys probably do a lot of promotions around CBD and office blocks.

      • perhaps if you have a window that opens wide you could be "exploit" the terms legally

  • plus 1 for the other books, dont really wish to haul around a big arse book

  • Some other excellent value finds on that site, too.

This is certainly a great book, probably considered the "Bible" in professional circles.

  • From the Checkout:

Deliveries by post incur a $12 postal fee and require a minimum spend of $30 per order (excluding postal fee)
Postal orders over $99 are shipped free of postal charges within this region (Victoria)

  • Found this as well:
The Universe - The Complete Season One (4 DVD set) for $20

JB have it for $66. EzyDVD for $49.95.

Now I need $29 more to hit the magic $99 for free home delivery.

  • $40 for me in the Central Coast - but I work from home - and I'm a cheapskate - looks like a great deal though

  • I have used Lifetime distributors for many years, and their books are usually heavily discounted even though the selection is small. I contact my local distributor (Sydney CBD) via email directly, and she delivers to my workplace for free. However, do bear in mind that their 'campaigns' are usually once every few weeks, so you may have to wait a while for your free delivery. Your distributor may ask if they can leave books at your workplace (like a mini book stall), but you can politely decline if that is not suitable.

For the above deal, the total turnaround from time of enquiring via email for the Larousse Gastronomique to actual delivery was 1 week. Your distributor may have to check stock levels. When I received the book yesterday, it was still wrapped in plastic, in mint condition. Needless to say, I am very pleased :)

  • Any idea if they will leave them at the reception desk of an apartment building/hotel in the CBD? Not technically my workplace, but I'm about to go on holidays and leaving at my friend's apartment would be a lot more convenient.

    • It says on their website that they cannot deliver for free to residential addresses.
      http://www.lifetimedistributors.com.au/lifetime-shopping-del…

"For residential addresses, orders are sent by Australia Post. Unfortunately, we cannot offer the free delivery option to residential addresses. "

      • So whats the difference between delivering it to a workplace such as the rialto, or an apartment building just up the road from the rialto?

  • Nice one.
On similar topic (ie food), anyone know good deal on the title "1001 Foods You Must Eat Before You Die" ? Preferably in hardback as buying as a gift.

  • Have always wanted this book, but couldn't stomach the price. This is a real bargain, thanks!

    • Yeah the thought of paying full price always left a bad taste in my mouth!

  • They have a section for cooking children. Yum.

  • I had a look at their other books. The Complete Winnie Pooh book is half price compared to cheapest at booko http://booko.com.au/books/isbn/9780416199611
    Very impressed!

  • Ugh, they list everywhere in Australia, except this little backwater place, you might have heard of it -

    http://maps.google.com.au/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=…

    ACT is not NSW.

    • Backwater, you got that right :)

    • Actually, a friend of mine is based in that backwater (poor thing) and Lifetime deliver to her office. I think they deliver from the NSW warehouse

  • i told a friend about this special, and he said lots of newsagents have the same book for $50 on sale in their remainder tables out the front of the shops

  • The Lifetime guys and Girls are a great way to buy books and other stuff, they come to our business every two weeks with a new selection of products and I cannot believe the savings I have made over the years.

Just joined this thread and notice someone asking why they cannot deliver to homes. A friend of mine used to work for Lifetime and they are a franchised business and can only call upon businesses, where they are more likely to sell products. Selling to homes is not an option. I do both both via work and to home as they also have a great new website and have recently introduced competitions for a chance to win something of value. Last one was an I-pad.

I know they only ever offer 8-9 books at a time but I do see new ones every two weeks and that suits me.

  • Forgot to mention my friend also mentioned to me that they have the new Jamie Oliver book coming in soon for about $ 25 - this one I will be getting
