  • I am not sure if it can be plugged into a cig socket in your car

In the description above: It is powered via cigarette lighter lead in the car

  • can it also be used on power instead of car cigarette lighter

    • +1

Not according to the description, but if you had a compatible adapter/power supply, I assume it would.

Leaves off one of the biggest benefits: keeping fast food hot!!

I love taking fast food home to eat, but its always lukewarm and soggy by the time I get back. If only this was wide enough to hold a pizza box :(

Also, if this is anything like the one I had (and it looks the same) it has two sockets, one for AC in and one for DC in. The question is does it come with both cords… if not the DC cord is about $5 on its own. AC cords however are quite common

    • I have a larger Waeco one, exactly the same look and it did come with both cords, but nothing referring to them on the description of this one.

It's got a figure 8 240v connector on the side going, by the images.

      • Yeap, so if it doesn't come with a figure 8 cable then you can always buy one… oh whoops, are we allowed to say "figure 8"? having flashbacks to yesterday where someone said "kettle plug" and the world ended ;)

Use the seat warmer to keep pizza heated during car rides!

      • +1

I put floor/feet heater on , and put pizza in passenger side footspace . Generally, Im soon enough that its not needed, but Im sure it helps a bit. 1 of these would be great for anyone that lives a bit further from take away shops. Where I am, everything is <5min away though.

I wish I had seat warmer!

I'm still getting used to the wonder that is power windows… 😋

  • +1

    Anybody using one of these?
Waeco and Engel are much better quality but more expensive.

    • +1

True, would be much better quality I expect (and more costly).
What do the waeco/engel below 'ambient temperature' ? Still 12-15 degrees ?
I think the waeco/engel not only have a better cooler system, but also probably much better insulation too. I have heard people keeping ice in a really well insulated esky, in the sun for days, and still keeps cold.

  • Showing up as full price for me?

  • +2

These are useless for keeping anything cold to drink on a hot day. 15 degrees below ambient will be 20 degrees inside the fridge on a 35 degree day.

    • +2

Yah but a 20 degree slurp is MUCH better than 35 degree one. You’re right tho, these are more of a toy than much else.

      • +4

works out cheaper to buy a $20 esky from Big W and a bag of ice.

        • +1

How many times you can reuse the same
          ice though?

    • 15 is a bit of a stretch. the technology in the cheaper units is probably good for 10. had a similar one and whilst it does work, hardly worth it.

    Obligatory boycott Jaycar comment.

    • fair call, second that

    • Man that's no good for the little guy, feel for him :/
