Ausluck is the worst of all the price jacker.

    $1,600 for a phone.

    • Yet people buy it……

      • +1

yet people camps 5 nights outside cold in front of rail construction for it.

        • +1

To resell it and profit or be one of the first featured on viral media to attempt to profit. A few nutcases do so just for personal use but ultimately, who cares. People do that for shoes here and other items elsewhere. To each their own as long as it doesn't harm anyone else.

    • I'd still rather have paid $5200 for my Telstra Walkabout TM

  • Cheaper to buy a macbook pro

    • hey try to put macbook pro into your pocket, mate

just saying. im not a apple sheep

  • There was a post a few days ago for <$1600

  • We could almost buy our own ship for that.

$1600 for a smart phone that won't let you use it as a mass storage device, won't play MP4's with a battery capacity of 2700mah. How stupid can you be to buy this?

    • +2

      Shhhhh… Don't say that.

      You'll hurt Apple fans feelings.

    • but it tastes like apple

People have different views on value. What's important to you may not be to others. There's value in the software, ecosystem, privacy, security, appstore, hardware, cameras, FaceID, speed, no lag etc etc etc… Different people have different subjective opinions. They're entitled to it as you are to yours. That doesn't make them stupid. People pay more on pieces of clothing.

      • Everything you listed is available on far cheaper phones that are also capable of doing far more.

        • +1

Hundreds of millions of people disagree but you do you and keep trying to change people's minds by insulting them. Maybe it makes you feel better.

        • -1

@Hybroid: I'm not trying to change anyone's mind. Hundreds of millions of people are stupid if they attempt to dispute facts. $1600 for a restricted device with not the best available hardware

No deal, as you can get at $ 1,629 from Mymobile and and price match from Officeworks at 5% = $1,547.55.
Plus if you are flying out OZ, TRS claim within 60 days another saving on GST ($ 1,392.80)

Hmm, does that mean you could technically buy an iPhone or expensive laptop or Nintendo Switch etc within 60 days of travelling abroad, then claim the ~10% tax back then simply bring the item back in when you return? That doesn't seem right but that's how I read it…

      https://www.homeaffairs.gov.au/trav/ente/tour/are-you-a-trav…

      • I should add the sentence that if you meet the below statement, if you have 2 pax you will have at least $1,800 worth of goods to bring back into Oz.

Bringing goods back into Australia for which you have already claimed a TRS refund
If you are aged 18 years or over, you can bring up to AUD 900 worth of goods into Australia duty-free, or AUD 450 if you are younger than 18. Families travelling together can pool this allowance (a couple with one child can bring in a total of AUD 900 + AUD 900 + AUD 450 = AUD 2250 worth of goods into Australia without paying duty or GST). This is called your passenger concession.

If the total value of the goods you are bringing into Australia that you purchased overseas or for which you have claimed a refund under TRS is greater than your passenger concession:

you must declare all of their goods
you will need to repay the GST refund back on the goods you claimed under the TRS
duty and GST will apply to all items purchased, not just goods over the limit of your passenger concession.
Penalties can apply if you don't declare that you have goods in excess of your passenger concession.

        • The reality is no one's going to be declaring a regular use iPhone in their pocket or laptop in backpack nor will these be checked but I suppose that's tax evasion.

        • @Hybroid: what people choose to do does not change the fact it is punishable by having to pay back gst and a fine on top if caught. So it is a choice one makes and blame solely lies on the tax dodger if caught. Just saying.

  • Still seems expensive given the new model is 4-5 months away

Tough choice re: phones. I got an S7 that I wouldnt mind upgrading but it wont feel like an upgrade unless I spend 1K+

    • -2

going from an S7 Edge to an iPhone X would be a downgrade

  • this seller sells contracted phones

    • Sources of this information ?

      • checked several (allocated stock) that came from them
