    I'll get it when it's $5.

  • Sounds dodgy.

    • +1

It's not. I bought this for $10.99, 2 1/2 months ago from the sale seller.

      • hows the game, IGN rated it 6.0 and didnt say many good things about it… I am looking to buy for my 10 year old son.

        • I played it on PC, I thought it was good. If they hadn't have promised the world and released it about $40 instead of a full price game, it would have got a lot better ratings.

        • It's had a number of updates since release. It's a great way of killing a lot of time. It does get a little repetitive, but it's fun.
There is going to be another big update in the next few months, and they will also release an XBOX one version as well.

    • Just like @starionx, I bought it from the same seller at around the same time too. Arrived quickly enough, no complaints.

  • They'd need to pay me $10 to play this garbage.

Edit: Looks like the "Atlas Rises" update provided quite a few improvements. Does this include the update or is it paid DLC?

    • +3

      It's included.

Not only that, but there is a massive update coming in July which is adding the multiplayer they promised from day 1. There's a decent chance that with the update, it will bring a lot of people back into the game and a lot of new players too.

I'd definitely pick it up now for $10. The cheapest price for PC from a key reseller is around $30+ since news hit about that update.

Is there actually anything to do in the game, besides shooting rocks and collecting resources to spend on improving your gun to shoot rocks faster?

How many planets with different colours do you need to land on before getting bored and playing something else?

Just seems to me that something like Space Engineers or Empyrion Galactic Survival on Steam are both better versions of No Mans Sky, with far more features, far better exploration mechanics, better building and resource management, better graphics and better multiplayer/coop.

        • That's still a lot more content than a lot of other popular games such as minecraft or CS:GO.

I mean how many times can you shoot the same looking models with the same looking model guns, or how many times can you remove blocks to turn them into other blocks?

I haven't played it since release, I don't own it, but I put in about 10 hours enjoying what it had to offer and if all they did was add co-op to the list and some PVE missions, then I would have put it a lot more. Since release there's been base building and missions added, not enough to get me to buy it, but playing it co-op for base building to massive space battles could be a lot of fun. I'll keep my eye out for a cheap key if the update gets well received.

        • Fair enough - I always assumed the appeal of Minecraft was the same appeal to kids that Lego has. The ability to take these building blocks and build anything you want, just like Lego, limited only by your creativity.

No Mans Sky doesn't really have that mechanic though. It's just resource gathering which is then spent on a pre-fabricated building or ship or whatever.

Will be interesting to see how the game changes with the addition of multiplayer, but considering it's almost 2 years old, I won't get my hopes up.

          @vicerum:

That's also been the appeal of No Man's Sky for a while since base building was added, and has been out for over a year.

There's just still a lot of hate because of how popular it is to hate things these days based on what other people tell others to hate (bandwagon jumping identity politics infects everything, including game sales). It's really not a bad game, it's quite enjoyable, it just wasn't what was promised.

I'll probably get a lot of hate for saying this - but at least it's a real product rather than Star Citizen which has been vapourware for 6 years. People continue to drop a lot of money on it too. When people mention the problems associated with the development they get banned from forums and people send them hate in emails.

        • I pulled the trigger a couple of months back because I've always been intrigued by it. Sad to say, it only held my interest for about 12-13 hours. I suppose it's just scratch an itch for me. Yep, I've certainly been struck by the shoot rocks and collect resources and #@$@%$&#%^*!#@$ inventory management. So far, that's all it's boiled down to me. Certainly exploration but it still has a samey character.

As I was playing, I was reminded of how it felt to play Starflight from the 80s. But that game that came on 2 floppies kept me hooked a bit longer.

        • @c0balt: No Man's Sky is still a poor game even with all that. Much better ways to spend your time as far as I am concerned.

        • @FabMan:

Well yeah, doing something productive and not playing video games is one lol!

Must be destined for ps+ soon

    • I'm holding out for this.

  • Remember the developers are liers

    • Also remember they're liars too, apparently.

    • They like to lie down often?

  • +1

There's a big update coming out soon enabling multiplayer (finally) in the game. There's also been many great improvements since it's shitstorm of a release. I'd recommend it.

  • Just be cautious of this seller. They had a Mac Leopard OS X disc on their website for sale. Ordered it and took my money. Two weeks went by with no response. Tried emailing them and nothing. Called them and they said they would follow up and send it out. Had to chase them up a week later, was told they were out of stock and wouldn't be getting more in. Called again to finally get my refund, but they still have it for sale on the website.

  • Hype is over sorry folks the illusion and smokes and mirrors is gone. I'll play it maybe maybe when it is free but even then why bother when I can just watch somebody else play it.

  • I heard that the game has improved a lot since the release.
