There is also a chance Apple will jack prices based on forecasted Forex exchange rates so might be a double edged sword.
I'd say wait for that announcement…and then buy the older one at an even greater discount.
I'd doubt the newer model with have anything particularly seminal to justify the price gap.
This is still more expensive than grey import models, and I'm pretty Apple still have international warranties on iPads and iPhones.
Plenty of these have been available for $650-$700 too, don't waste your time at this price.

Good deal for a brand new one, but you can really pick up a pretty good quality iPad from gumtree for like $150 bucks to $200 cheaper.
Officeworks were very quick to adjust their price!!!! It was not the same when I looked earlier
There is a fair chance a new iPad Pro will be announced next month, so consider how urgently you need one before dropping nearly $900.
