Just to confirm… your company is actually not telstra but providing a recharge service to telstra is that right?

Your company is InterAcct Solutions Group so to put the telstra logo on the top left on your website and make it look like telstra is misleading is it not?

Also can you confirm this is not a one off recharge? You need to register and have to cancel otherwise it will keep recharging automatically?

We are a service provider for Telstra which supply, among other things, their #100# menu services (simply dial on your Telstra handset and you can explore the menus).
One of our partner products with Telstra is called EZYrecharge which offer PayPal recharge to Telstra service numbers.

Telstra helped us design the webpage in order to provide Telstra customers with a consistent look & feel, something Telstra feel is important.
You may notice that our website is linked directly from the Telstra website, see telstra.com/recharge and click on the PayPal tab under payment options.

EZYrecharge allows Telstra prepaid customer to perform a recharge when they choose to. We do not recharge automatically, every recharge is initiated by the customer.
To recharge your mobile phone for example, see here http://ezyrecharge.com.au/How2RechargeMobile.jsp
To recharge your mobile broadband, see here http://ezyrecharge.com.au/How2RechargeBroadband.jsp

Registering with EZYrecharge simply sets up a billing agreement with PayPal which allows you to recharge directly from your phone using your PayPal account without logging into PayPal every time (to recharge broadband use your Telstra connection manager software). You recharge with PayPal using EZYrecharge anytime you want.

      • Appreciate the confirmation especially the direct link from Telstra to your website.

        Edit:

Actually just out of curiousity… why is the direct link from telstra http://telstra.ezyrecharge.com.au/PromoTerms.jsp

While the link you provided is http://www.ezyrecharge.com.au/PromoTerms.jsp

        • They are the same, simply a different sub-domain.
They are all sitting on the same domain.

We are in the process of upgrading our servers, and when that is complete or website will be on the Telstra free list (i.e. can go to our webpage without charge from Telstra), just like the BigPond website.

I will confirm details on our facebook page on details and when it becomes available

  • Just to remind people that it is possible for a company to debit your Paypal account automatically (obviously you need to give them the permission). I dunno whether InterAcct is going to direct debit your Paypal account every time you want to "easy" recharge your Telstra prepaid service. Not too happy that the site seems to look like a Telstra site. Still $20 rebate is $20 less than what you would normally pay though you only get the rebate in March.

    • Hi netsurfer, please see response above which should answer most of your questions.
Just to confirm, EZYrecharge will never automatically take funds out of your PayPal account, we only debit your PayPal account when you specifically request it.

      • Question is still not fully answered. Basically, for future recharges, does the customer need to connect to PayPal and go through the Paypal payment system? If no (i.e. the customer only needs to agree that he wants to recharge and you will re-use the details collected), that's effectively a direct debit.

Your site seems to indicate once you entered an EZYrecharge pin and confirm, EZYrecharge can/will charge your Paypal account. It is effectively using Paypal as a credit card. I consider that one form of direct debit.

While going through Paypal system might be annoying, I prefer not to give retailers direct debit like ability to charge my Paypal account. I know a few US retailers do that. At the moment, I cannot help but think this is basically $20 bonus if you recharge $50 or more and setup direct debit Paypal details with EZYrecharge. I hope I am wrong.

Since you are the provider of the #100# system, which is a system integrated to pretty much all Telstra prepaid phones, it is probably not a huge issue. Though it is still a form of direct debit authorisation once signed up.

          Hi again netsurfer,

When you register with us (by entering your prepaid number to recharge and a EZY PIN), you will then be re-directed to PayPal to login to their secure site.
You will then click a button to setup a billing agreement with EZYrecharge.

That means that when you request a transaction with our merchant account (EZYrecharge), we can perform a reference transaction by using that billing agreement. A mobile phone recharge transaction can only be triggered by you using the Telstra service number you registered with to initiate the recharge by going into the #100# menu (or using WAP from your phone). It is the same for broadband, you need to use the SIM card inside the USB modem with the Telstra connection manager software to trigger a recharge.

To summarise, after registering with us, you are able to fund Telstra recharges from your PayPal account triggered from the device that you registered with (mobile phone device, USB modem device, WiFi device).
It is triggered by you and you need to enter the EZY PIN to authorise the recharge.
Your registration with EZYrecharge only allows your PayPal account to recharge your own prepaid account that you have registered.

The $20 cashback is simply a thank-you for using the service

Please let me know if you have any further questions (also, feel free to contact [email protected])

  • Still waiting for my $30 credit from the last deal http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/35971… although I guess they have until midnight tonight to make the payment.

    • So am I.

      • Waiting on the $30 credit back also…

        • Me too, along with two other people I know…..

        • Only $20 this time?…

        • I was about to sign up for this but after reading the above comments won't bother. Sort out your other customers before trying to get new ones on the same weak promise please.

    • Hi there,

The payment is planned to be sent to your PayPal accounts tomorrow (the offer specifies it will be sent by the 20th January).
We just need PayPal to release the funds and they will be on their way!

  • I'm not suggesting this is dodgy at all, but it's odd Telstra don't do this themselves. Surely they could easily set up a Paypal payment system? Seems odd that they pay a middle-man to do it for them.

    • Telstra also use middlemen for their credit card gateway.
It is just integrated in a different way.
Soon you will also have PayPal as an option to pay as well as credit card.

Most Telcos use thir parties to organise their payment options because they do not have the relationships with the payment gateways, and do not really want to.
It is easier for them to have third parties manage the payments, risk, and relationships.

  • Is the rebate on the previous deal coming?

It's almost the end of the normal business day on the 20th Jan…. ;)
