yes they are all grey imports from hong kong. the Canon EOS 550D Digital SLR Camera Twin Lens Kit (Japan Kiss X4 Pack…Price: $869.00 i think is better value and im considering buying it.
Uh, look at the link he posted, a list of grey imports that are alot cheaper than $809.
from TopBuy? Grey stock.
TopBuy is known to sell grey import cameras/camcorders.
From their FAQ:
Q: Does the item come with Australian Warranty?
A: Canon, Nikon & Sigma: Lenses, flashes (DSLR accessories) carry international warranty
Some brands of digital cameras also carry international warranty as marked on our listing
For all other camera & camcorders TopBuy provides Australian Manufacturer Service Centre Warranty for 180 Days (for purchases made after 8/6/2010).
Probably a variation of Mack warranty. But 6 months isn't a standard manufacturer's warranty.
Despite what they might claim, standard Canon lenses do NOT have international warranties, only the high-end "L" lenses do.
Canon DSLR's also don't have international warranties (not sure about the very high-end stuff, but definitely at this level they don't).
There are numerous reports of Canon making exceptions for self-imported kit (eg, buying it yourself from a reseller in another country), but for grey imported items they are very strict.
My Japanese 550D (Kiss X4) came with international warranty…?
All Canon SLR lenses are covered by international warranty, not just the L's
someone confirmed their US purchased Olympus lens got repaired locally, but you should probably double check before spending that kind of money
ps DWI give 12 months warranty not 6 months like Topbuy, does that mean it's not grey import stock?
Even if this is Grey import, it remains the cheapest (delivery included) "550D" Badged camera. You can yield further savings by choosing a Kiss/Rebel badge - if that tickles your fancy.
If it is a grey import, it's not a bargain…
