But seriously, you might have seen these awesome Raffaele Iannello exclusive design knife blocks selling in well-known kitchen shops for up to $159.90. The knife blades are made from Molybdenum and Vanadium stainless steel. Knives made from this material are considered sharper, more durable (in terms of keeping their sharpness, as it is a harder and more wear resistant material) and more resistant to rust, and at today's price you can really grab a bargain that will add a touch of "something different" to your home.

Just remember it has been sold cheaper by 1-day. I'm not saying it's a bad deal, just that it has been had cheaper $24.95 + 4.95 P&H.

I'm not saying this voodoo set would be any good, but afaik 1-day deal was not the original vooodoo set but a knockoff.

      • You might have a point there mate - I remember a lot of discussion around it.

Edit: Just re-read the whole thread and no mention of it being fake. Was that may be from the COTD sale that the OP posted?

        • Could have been the real ones, who knows, probably coming out of the same factory from china anyway.

        • I bought em from 1day, they were fake

        • There were 2 times the "Voodoo" set went up for sale on 1-day…
The first time, they used the word "Voodoo", the second time, they didn't…
Given their recent spate of posting fakes with trademarked names, it's very possible the first "Voodoo" set was actually fake and no-one noticed.
(having said that, I suspect the only true difference between the fake and genuine sets is a trademark etched into the plastic somewhere)

  • nah i got one from 1day sales
it was a fake not the orginal

    • u could tell the difference where the mould was connected
      knifes not that good
but was still nice, 30 bucks so didnt care
      still looks good

    • They are creating a name for themselves selling fake stuff…

    • Thanks for clarifying djones145. Anyone know if the COTD are the original version from the previous sale?

      • COTD haven't yet been caught selling fakes to my knowledge… the only issues people have had with them is:
        1) some difficulty RMA-ing faulty goods (despite this, my one faulty goods experience was excellent)
        2) Their super "catchathon" sales that crash their servers.

  • Available in 2 different colours:
    Black - $59.95 (RRP $159.90)
    Red - $59.95 (RRP $159.90)
    White - $59.95 (RRP $159.90)

    Amusing!

        The equation between point
        (4) 3 a - 2 a = 3 b + 3 c - 2 b - 2 c and
        (5)3 a - 3 b - 3c = 2 a - 2 b - 2 c

        (5) should be: 3a - 3b - 3c =-2a - 2b -2 c

        3 doesn't equal 2

      • if a = b + c then
        a - b - c = 0
        and 0 X 1 = 0 X 100
        it doesn't mean 1 = 100

Well black and white are actually "shades" so does 2 = 1?

As a knife kn00b, how are these sets for home use? Stand looks great but do the blades make the cut?

If you have one, take a stab at giving some feedback!

    • Had a set for 4 or 5 years now, bought in the UK. They are not the best knives in the world, but they are far from the worst, quite sturdy… Only poor thing is they are not balanced like better knives.

If they are original and the same as the ones we have then certainly ok for the price.

    • If you're after knives, get some proper ones..
If you're after the knife block, get the fake..

  • Knives are ok but they get blunt quickly.

    • Most knives do… Pretty easy to get them super sharp again though…

      • Proper knives keep their blade for ages… Basic maintenance re-hones the edge.

  • Great price for a ridgy-didge Voodoo…the chrome is awesome!!! I'm very tempted…

FWIW, I bought two of the cheapies from 1-day for $24.95 each plus $5.99 shipping…$55.89 total, I'm quite happy with mine, and my friends who went halves in the deal love theirs too!

I know this is gonna sound odd, but I really like the knives…I've got some experience with knives (no, I'm not a psychopath…just a one time commercial cook), but they are so light, thin & sharp they are awesome to cut with even if they don't hold an edge that well…a quick trip across the sharpening steel when they get dull sorts that out though!

Mind you, my favourite cooking knives are the Kiwi brand Chinese cheapies from the asian supermarkets…they come razor sharp, hold that edge for ages, and are cheap as chips so when they get dull you can just turf them without remorse! ;)

[edit] Spewing about the two colours thing…odd they suddenly don't have the other two! :o

  • Just ordered red one, alway wanted one!

Looking at the description, it seems genuine. The original has the same length on each knives as this one, whereas the fake ones selling on ebay has different dimension and brand.

And who cares, it's still cheap :)
