  • Will this work with NBN FTTC?

  • Thanks OP. My FTTN NBN getting connected this week!

If anyone is curious the difference, I found this in my research

    http://whirlpool.net.au/wiki/fttn_registered_modem_router

Something about v1 not supporting Annex B (whatever that is) lol

  • how do you know the EB one isnt Gen 2? I just bought one today also I think I used the code PULL5 and got 5% off so free shipping

    • Messaged ebgames ebay and confirmed v1

      • how will I know if the one at officeworks is v2? does it say on the box?

        • Yes, it will say on the label on the barcode.

        • @douglasac10:

I just got mine delivered from EB Games and its V2 :)

    • whats the difference between the two versions?

      • V2 has a slightly newer DSL chipset that apparently plays a bit nicer with FTTN NBN, but has one less USB port.

I believe the V1 was also not available as an AU specific model, it was a EU model with the Australian power pack in the box.

edit: the V2 also has the newer style interface and the new logo on the modem.

  • NBN FTTN will be ready end of June in my area, need a FTTN modem with VIOP (need a landline phone), will this modem work? is there any good one around on sales?

    • Get the VR600V If you want VOIP

    • Just FYI…
If you're with Telstra they'll supply a modem with voip for free (and port your local line over), if you stay with them when you change to NBN.

How good it is depends which model you get. The Sagem ones are a bit flakey, but the Technicolor ones (like the Frontier) aren't bad at all and have 4G fallback.

      • They only use the 4g backup ones now.

  • Should I bother "upgrading" from my Archer D7? It's 5GHz wireless is a pos now, even with the latest "fixed" firmware. Or maybe hunt for one of the other routers on clearance @ OW? Hmm TP-Link C2150 is $184.97 too.

Currently on ADSL2+, FTTN has been pushed back from Jan-Jun 2018 to Jan-Jun 2019 and now it's Jul-Dec 2019 lmao! Might as well go (back) to Optus Cable tbh.

  • Any idea how many channels this has on 2.4GHz and 5GHz?

  • Is this the best bang for buck if I want:

    • new modem/router for my NBN FTTN connection (installing next month)
    • reliable home networking for HD video streaming, music streaming, filesharing, personal FTP,etc
    • no rebooting, dropouts, unexplained performance problems
    • wifi to fill my entire apartment

Any better options for a similar price? Thanks!

    • +1

Yes, it is the best bang for buck. There's nothing close I am aware of near this price.

  • thanks op. Bought one

  • my last one was Tp-Link W8980 or something … mine worked well for 3 months and then turned out to be a piece of junk ,continued using for about a year or so, had to throw it out and got an Asus which seems ok so far

    • I have an 1043ND bought in 2010….it is still going strong (I also own a newer Asus)

  • Thanks OP priced matched at office works. There was still one more left in east perth store.
And can confirm it was V2

  • Thanks OP….got the last one on the shelve at OW in Subi

    • impressed with the sync rate of this unit for FttN over 230mtr….105down

  • Thanks OP. Just now got one at OW in Coffs Harbour. Price matched plus an extra 5% off bought the price down to 104.47

    Can also confirm it's a V2.

  • Will be picking mine up tomorrow from OW, hopefully it is V2 :)

  • I've had a problem getting my mobile to connect to Wifi through it.

Being a dedicated OzBargainer I use a Vernee Thor mobile phone. It runs on the ordinary vanilla flavoured Android 7. The phone kept rebooting on connection to Wifi.

I eventually solved the problem by routing the Wifi: Archer VR600 > old DLink 2750B > Xiaomi Wifi Extender > Vernee Thor (running Android 7)

It has solved the problem but I'm not real keen on my work around. Just in case anyone else here has the same problem with a cheap Chinese phone, the link is

    • jeepers, bit of dedication here! no problem on the xioami mi5s

    • You just need to change your wifi settings. PM me and I can give you a few pointers.

  • Thank you! Price matched at officeworks Keysborough 3173. They still have 3.
