Note that the phone doesn't take microSD, despite the inclusion. Can't explain that one :)

        • @UNO: Flashing the global rom won't unlock bands. The only reason xiaomi makes 'china' versions is that the volume sold justifies their expense saved from not paying per unit for bands enabled on the chipset. The reason 'global' versions cost more is because they actually cost more to manufacture due to the chipset producer, in this case qualcomm supplying on a band 'unlocked' basis.

          We are checking with our supplier now and waiting for their updates to let us know why the stocks are m1803d5xe.

        • @UNO: this is just waffle, they are their own supplier. They have knowingly opened and modified the device before sending. The only resolution is replacement with the paid for item or refund. The response they have provided is buying them time and wasting yours.

          Without this forum I wouldn't have known if I had the Chinese version.

        • Good to hear someone got what they ordered. For everyone else doing returns who is paying for the postage back? Seller isn't offering to pay for mine.

          I am thinking of sending mine back, rather than the $40 compensation.

  • I am not sure… I haven't heard back yet. Did you open your phone up? I open it up, took all the package off etc. and used it.

    I didn't realise it was the wrong version until I had issues with apps like Google Pay, when I checked the settings.

    I reckon its going to be a pain to get anything from this seller as I have opened and used the phone.

    • Got the email about postage back, looks like they are arranging a courier pick up. Hopfully the return goes smoothly. I never took the protective film off or turned the phone on. I still want a global one.

      • I told them I opened it, and I even opened the SD card. I received the following response:

        • Mine also arrived back yesterday, I got a message asking if I would like a replacement actual global version but I've already ordered a replacement, would have gone with a replacement from eglobal if they had offered it earlier.

          I haven't heard anything else back from them though.
