Amazon's Description:

Mental illnesses are common and cause great suffering to individuals and communities everywhere in the world, but many health workers are more comfortable dealing with physical illness. This practical manual of mental health care is vital for community health workers, primary care nurses, social workers and primary care doctors, particularly in low-resource settings. This guide gives the reader a basic understanding of mental illness by describing more than thirty clinical problems associated with mental illness and uses a problem-solving approach to guide the reader through their assessment and management. Mental health issues as they arise in specific contexts are described - in refugee camps, in school health programmes, as well as in mental health promotion. The final section helps the reader to personalise for a particular location, for example, by entering local information on voluntary agencies, the names and costs of medicines and words in the local language for symptoms.

Therefore, please do not diagnose family/mates or self-diagnose. Get a referral to a mental health professional. A wrong diagnosis may compound the problem even without medication being involved.

      You've been watching Dr Phil.

Seeing as literally almost half of the population is suffering some form of mental illness according to mainstream psychiatrists I don't think they're doing a very good job by their own measure.

They seem to exist to enrich drug companies by prescribing medications rather than doing something effective such as reducing carbohydrates and exercising.

Their job is not to eradicate mental illnesses. The quantity of them vs your "literally half" also has nothing to do with it.

Then you end with some drug companies "big pharma" statement, and the best part is you go to use it to pedal your new "miracle cure". Nothing in your post is based in reality.

          Burn the unbeliever! Burn them!

      • Wow I wonder why people are so positive (no pun intended) about psychiatrists? Would have thought you would get more upvotes? Must be a lot of doctors on here?!

  • Great find. Thanks
