Announced in January and finally shipping in June, the MJX Bugs 5W stacks a heap of features for its price. Nothing compares in the market.

This voucher saves you USD $34 off the current USD $199 price, which is still quite competitive. I expect these will normally float around low to mid USD $200's once general availability begins.

  • Are these actually any good?

For a Toy grade quad it looks to be alright. The Bugs 2w was ok, it would have been nice to see 5ghz FPV on this release. Until it is released and reviews done we won't know.
BG have it listed at $199 US. The proprietary batteries are listed at $27.99
So with the voucher this looks to be a good deal.

Sorry, it does have 5ghz FPV according to the website.

Bugger, the batteries cannot be shipped to AUS :(

        • Yep, early days - the Visuo had the same issue early on.

      • It's 5GHz Wi-Fi FPV, so not as good as 5GHz analogue, but better than 2.4GHz Wi-Fi.

    • Their previous models are considered good, so providing they didn't bite off more than they could chew with all these new features then yes it should be reasonable for the price point. Range is 200-300m however as with previous models it's classed as mid-range so there is a good chance you would get 500m (and possibly up to 800m) out of this. There should be heaps of reviews out late June.

  • This depends on the quality of the camera. The Parrot Bebop 1 (and sometimes 2) + Controller is comparable at the price point and the camera is solid - it remains to be seen whether or not the 1 axis gimbal on the Bugs works well.

  • Correct me if I'm wrong but this is a price breakthrough for a drone with GPS and a gimbal?

    • Sort of, but the Gimbal on this is only 1 axis so video quality overly may very well turn out to be worse than the $170 Bebop which has GPS and very good software stabilization - it remains to be seen how well it all performs in practice.

  • It’s a bit too expensive for a toy drone , it would be a bargain ( better buy) for under $200. Might as well get a second hand DJI spark for a proper drone and it’s tiny size

    • Is the spark that much better?
