$20 Wine Voucher for Purchases $70 or over

7911
WINEJAN

Ok so i saw this deal else where and when i tried placing an order i got the items for free. I am in sydney and if i place an order below $10 i get the whole thing free inc shipping and insurance. You can purchase individual wine bottles and some beers too. There is a lot of choice.

I am sure this is a mistake and can't confirm whether they will fulfill the orders. Try your luck. Nothing like free beer or wine.

Edit: orders with $0 might not go through. Make it $0.01 or more and it will go through

For some areas this may not be free as deliveries varies in areas.

[mod: removed personal attack remark] try a test order on their website. If u want it free you do the work. I ain't doing it for you. Since when did this rule come into place on ozbargain.

    • made an order with few dollars excess, but dont know about $0 orders.
still early to call, though went thru the credit card as authorisation, might be hidden terms and they might reject to process order.

  • +1

Thanks, gave it a go. Only concern I have is that you still need to give your credit card details even if the total order comes to $0 with the discount.

Edit - I had issues purchasing when the total was at $0. So I changed my order to a total of $1.19 and it went through.

    • will just update the deal.

postage is about $10 dollars to SA… but still a good deal I reckon. +1

  • Good find no point for people in tas tho it's $23 postage :(

Google chrome says, the site is partial secured. So Dont want to give details of my credit card. Dont know, what information is not secured. I Was trying to buy Corona Extra , 6 bottles and discount code : WINEJAN did work

    CORONA EXTRA (MEXICO)
    6 $17.46
    Shipping Cost $8.95
    Insurance $0.44
    Discount $20.00
    Total $6.85

  • I just got thru but i dont really want to give my credit card details to an unsecured site.

  • Just bought a six pack of James Squire Pilsner delivered to Victoria for $8.55
    Thanks!!

  • Thanks, just ordered 2 bottles of wine. After the $20 discount I only had to contribute $13.79. Not bad at all!!

  • +1 for the deal, shipping to WA kills it for me though

  • Good post! Anybody know if they will honour it? I know there has been deals/errors from these guys in the past - can't remember if they allow it to go through or not…

  • I was looking at their facebook page and it seems legit. You had to like them to receive this code. But orders were allowed and doesn't mention any exclusions or minimum

  • -1

UPDATE TO MY POST ABOVE (which I can't seem to edit)

    $10.30 to Melb.
6 pack of JAMES SQUIRE PILSENER for $6.35 (delivered) is a bargain for a circa $18-$20 RRP beer.
    +1 to OP from me.

    EDIT:
    Crunched some figures here and…

There's 2 ways to order a slab of this JSP beer:

    1> You could buy a slab of JSP for $62.64 (24 x $2.61) + $20.60 shipping + $1.57 insurance - $20 discount = $64.81
    OR
    2> You could do 4 separate transactions of 6 bottles for $15.66 (6 x 2.61) + $10.30 + $0.39 insurance - $20 discount = $6.35 x4 = $25.40

Whilst it may be taking advantage of an offer, it is possible to do. :)

FYI - this is based on Melb freight, so TAS, WA and prob NT would be less cost effective. SYD shoppers would save another $1.35 x 4 = $5.40 on TCO.

    • ooomg does this mean we can place multiple orders — eg my mom can get one too for herself?!

      :D

  • They don't verify any credit card detail when check out

    • are you sure coz I can't use my prepaid mastercard.

      • Pretty sure that they do, I tried to order something without the winejan code and it came to too much on my credit card so was denied, after putting on the winejan code it went through, so looks like the cards are charged straight away. Offer, acceptance, payment, come on alcohol.

    • +3

I had put in the wrong expiry on the credit card and it was rejected.

When they get back to work on Monday, some poor person has to give a lot of refunds or send a lot of almost free wines and beers.

    • I deliberately put my cvs number wrong, the payment went thru. My card has been charged. Really interesting.
My card is a visa gift card though.
      Sorry about the confues.

Holy stupid payment system, should verify the t&c when clicking apply the code. No free beer lol

  • is the site secure?

  • +1

I have a bad feeling this will get dishonoured. 890 clicks in the first 2 hours. I don't think the company is large enough to absorb the loss.

    • I agree with you, so I stopped further ordering.

  • 3 bottles of Guiness for $1.67 delivered to my desk at work ;). Thanks OP!

    • 33 cents for sydney :). Also props to the OP

  • What is this security issue as it pop up after I submit the order?

    • They are simply using a certificate which wasn't generated by a big company such as GeoTrust or Comodo, therefore your browser doesn't know to trust it. It's still encrypting the connection.

  • Lets see how this goes…

  • I ordered 4 corona for $1 it went thru even tho it says 6 min

  • +1

I was going to give it a try but then decided to cancel because the Google Chrome reported website as unsecured. Don't wanna give my credit card details.

  • -2

So what's going on? They're canceling orders or what?

    Did 2 orders

    4 corona for 88c
    5 Pure blonde for 22c

  • $23 postage to tas!

  • Their Freight costs are probably not as much as they say they are. They probably have some sort of deal with a freight company for a specific period of time. So they probably won't be to out of pocket

  • +2

4 corona for 88 cents not out of pocket?

    • Even though yours has gone through it does clearly state you have to order a minimum of 6 as I am sure it is easier for them to ship it as a 6 pack or a case rather than individual bottles. So expect to be refunded your money.

  • +2

    From their T&Cs:

All orders are accepted subject to availability and will be accepted at the discretion of Winemakers Choice (and any monies taken for an order will be refunded to the customer if the order is not accepted). The prices as shown on the website are current however and they may change at any time at the discretion of Winemakers Choice without notice, including in the event that suppliers change their prices or governments impose a further impost, or if there is an error on this website or in any advertising material (including emails, fax and any other material).

For the record, instead of going for an outright 'freebie' (which would most likely get cancelled anyway), I used the voucher to get a discount on a decent bottle of red (as a gift). Although it doesn't strictly meet the T&Cs for the voucher as posted in the OP, I think it has a better chance of getting through than all these $1 and $2 orders that (most?) people have placed.

  • What's a decent bottle of red

    • anything that matches the $70 - ($20) requirement :+)

  • -1

3 "Per person, per order" Yay!

    1x Bottle of white

    6x Heineken

    6x Peroni

Conducted through 3 separate orders cost me $12 inc shipping to Sydney.

  • -1

so theres no garrantee that it will be honoured or cancelled. so what type of beer can i get for under $20 delivered to brisbane?

    • i got 6 pure blondes for about $3.. but as is said above, the chances of this coming through are about 0.001%

  • Go to beer and go imported pick 6 anything is good for 2 bucks

  • +5

someone's gonna have a bad case of Mondayitis in the Winemaker's Choice offices

  • Awesome deal..but only really useful if you live somewhere the freight is so darn expensive. $20 to regional QLD (plus insurance). The voucher only covers that so it's still full price for the item.

Guess I'm better off walking across the road to the local.

  • praying for my cheap wine to come, prepaid CC

It's unsecured, and might be ID theft prone too…

I guess i'll just have to check my veda records later.

    • It's not unsecured. They are simply using a certificate which wasn't generated by a big company such as GeoTrust or Comodo, therefore your browser doesn't know to trust it. It's still encrypting the connection.

  • "…Cheap wine and a three-day growth
Cheap wine and a three-day growth
    Come-on, come-on, come-on…" :O

  • -1

Has anybody actually taken the time to read and understand the Terms and Conditions? It clearly states that the voucher can only be used for wine only and for a purchase of $70 or more….
6.For wine only. Purchase value of $70 or over.

So what you will find will happen to your orders if you gave your credit card details is that you will be charged the correct amount for your order and the voucher will not apply or your order will be canceled due to it not meeting the requirements.

ALWAYS READ THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS!!!!!
    I have been stung before.

    • +1

I could be wrong (in which case I'm happy to be corrected), but they would have no authority to debit your credit card more than once. AFAIK the authority only applies at the time of the transaction.

Given that they have already debited the invoiced amount for those who paid via CC, technically they can either cancel the sale and refund your money (which is fine given the T&Cs), honour the sale or offer some kind of intermediate.

      • +1

Yeh, they cannot legally debit more money after issuing an invoice for a certain amount. They would legally have to refund everyone and offer the option to repurchase at the higher price

    • And where does it mention you would be charged the correct pricing in the T&C? Don't think you have read it at all

    • Who cares?

Why wouldn't you at least try to get free beer?

Worst that could happen is it will take them a couple weeks to refund my $1.10 oh no!

  • -2

For wine only $70 for beer no minimum purchase

  • +1

if you gave your credit card details is that you will be charged the correct amount for your order and the voucher will not apply

    Now that would be fun……

    • -2

      did someone say ddos? :P

    • why? they are within their right to charge the correct amount and remove the voucher from the total amount when and if the voucher has been misused. More than likely they will just cancel the transaction.
And to shane23, For wine only. means voucher is applicable to the purchase of wine only.

      • Good luck to them if they try this. I believe it would be one of the worst marketing exercises ever.

      • +1

        Cancel the transaction, fair enough.

Charge something that you did not agree to, not a good idea.

  • I would love to get the free beer but the only trouble is the damn credit card information entry. I just don't think its worth it to swap my credit card info for 4 bottles of beer. :P

  • Ordered and Smiling thanks for the Posting..!!!

  • 6 budweisers for $7, awesome!

  • 6.For wine only. Purchase value of $70 or over
7.Freight and insurance not included in voucher value.

    • I read the above as there is a minimum purchase amount which only applied to wines, oh well we'll see

    • IF they will have to cancel tons of orders
due to the fact they didnt properly set their online purchasing system,

will not make much good to their brand image.

      lets see,.

    • +1

I tried it for a $24 bottle of curacao, and it worked fine. I think most people have realised that it is SUPPOSED to be for $70 minimum, but orders of any amount is going through the system so it's worth a shot. Personally, I couldn't be bothered going through with order due to $10 shipping, but if you get free shipping (as per title) you'd be silly not to try.

      • The 'free shipping' mentioned in the title/OP is misleading. It's only true if your order is $10 or below. ie $10 purchase + ~$10 P/H (varies according to location) = nil total cost and 'free' shipping.

Anyway, the point is moot as it's likely that most orders will be cancelled.

  • +1

    My order went through:

    Item Code Quantity Subtotal Total
    PILSENER URQUELL (CZECH REPUBLIC) 12058 2 $3.95 $7.90
    CORONA EXTRA (MEXICO) 12059 1 $2.91 $2.91
    Shipping Cost $8.95
    Insurance $0.27
    Discount -$20.00
    $10.81 $0.03
    Subtotal Value

    (Incl. GST) Total Value
    (Incl. GST)

  • just wait for tomorrow or the next few days(they will have tonnes of orders), you either have your order cancelled or successfully processed

  • Great - 4 bottles Boags $2.36 delivered to Melbourne - hopefully :)

  • 6 James Squire Pilseners delievered to Sydney for $5. not bad. its only really a few bucks saving as the local bottle-o does them for $10 but still nice :)

  • " 6.For wine only. Purchase value of $70 or over "

Arnt orders that dont meet this condition going to get dishonored?.. I ordered anyway but I cant see it going through…..

  • bit poor that there is still no reply today.

  • +5

I can imagine come Monday and the poor person who is in charge of online orders will log into the system to see hundreds of orders from people who have taken advantage of the fault, and the look on their face as they I can exclaim in shock…. "DAMN!! WE GOT OZBARGAINED!!!"

    LOL

  • it would suck if they cancelled the orders, its their fault they allowed it to go through. they took the $5 out so hopefully it goes through.

    • totally agree,
it's quite weird they took the money,

rule number one of online biz is to not mess up with customer money!
if they allow the non checked use of a code, is in no way customer fault.

and as everyone said, they took the money straight away.

      • Them taking the money means nothing nearly everyone does

      • +2

no, rule number one of online biz is don't talk about online biz.
you're thinking of rule number two

  • +3

Just think of this as the Lotto. Except you can't lose, you can only break even.

  • +1

I called them to confirm whats the deal with this.
They told me that they are aware of the glitch and all the orders which do not comply to Terms and Conditions will be cancelled. The money will be refunded and customers will be requested to replace the order.

    Sorry about it fellas.

    • the important bit is:

all the orders which do not comply to Terms and Conditions will be cancelled

      • +1

whys there a need to call them in the first place?
