Meanwhile I've finally got a need for a Chromecast Audio, and they're still asking $60 for them!
you can stream music from Google Home Mini to a Bluetooth speaker without Chromecast Audio as long as you sync them via the Goolge Home app.
The speakers I want to connect to don't have Bluetooth unfortunately. And I want to keep to an entirely Google solution, as that's how the rest of the house is connected.
At the moment, I've got an old phone with Plex plugged into the speakers, and I'm currently casting exclusively from Plex on my phone, to Plex on the old phone. But would prefer to be able to cast from Google Play Music and Castbox.
