Are these the ones made in China?

Seems a good price… If only sidchrome were the same quality as they used to be … And if only I knew what to do with tools :)

chinese metallurgy and industry has moved beyond what australia used to do in the 80’s ……. i still have sidchrome spanners from when they were made in heidelberg and some of the chinese products are better.

they were great in the era when japanese and chinese were just made from carbon steel and not cr-v, now brands such as koken from japan are much better sockets than australia ever made …… and china has an aerospace industry so they have the supporting metallurgy and forging industries.

with sidchrome now you are now buying stanley tool supervision in chinese or taiwanese forges.

ahhh the era when australia made TVs , built satellites, launched missiles ,

and “ we love football meat pies kangaroos and holden cars”.

and our school standards were at their peak ….. even gonski is trying to get us back to those levels which were higher than what we have now.

Maybe made in china but i can vouch for their strength and quality. Frequently use them as flogging spanners with no issue.

Yep. I got a new set with larger sockets to complement my 25yo set and they're just as good.

  • Hmmm… The logo inside the box lid is a off centered

  • Repco are the best value brand spanners.

Not only are they all delivered by the snap-on truck (take that info to mean whatever you want); but they too give lifetime warranty.

While with snapon, either of the 'kromes, or stanley, you have to wait for a new one to be sent, with repco, just take the broken spanner in, its laser etched repco, so no questions, and grab a new one from the shelf.

My mate is a welder, often having to break some very siezed nuts. Breaks many a spanner. Walk in, no receipt (laser etched tools) and swap it.
    No questions.

Ease of using the warranty is often overlooked.

  • I thought it is $69 delivered but when I checked out it asked me to pay $11 delivery fee. Sorry am I missing something here?
