Hi, does the Dimmer Switch require a neutral wire? I read somewhere that dimmer switches do not require one (as a small amount of voltage continues to flow).

Also, my 15yo HPM IR light switch doesn't have one and it works fine (but I'd like to replace it with a Google Home compatible dimmer).

    • Yes, all of these wall mount switches, as well as the in-ceiling light controller, require a neutral wire.

The electronic module in all these gadgets requires a complete power circuit to work.

    • Yup. Some dimmers don't need neutral.

Do I need the Nue bridge if I already have Hue Bridge? I have Zigbee down lights and they work fine with Hue and my Google Home. I am interested in getting light switches

    • +1

Yes, the Philips Hue bridge only recognizes it's own Philips Hue dimmer switch.

This Zigbee light dimmer / Witches only work with Nue Bridge.

Philps Hue bridge works with Nue Zigbee downlight and bulbs but not any of the walls mount smart switch or any other Nue zigbee gadgets like door sensor.

The Nue bridge also works with Google Home and it supports more home automation gadgets than Hue bridge.

      • Is there any way to add Nue bridge to Home Assistant (HASSIO)?

Should be able to use echo plus with both

Can the 3 gang do doming as well or do you ha e to have e individual points for each dimming set?

    • Well the 3 gang only do switch controls (On/Off) 3 sets of lights in series (same roof circuit)

It doesn't offer any dimming function.

Only the dimmer switch NUE Smart Zigbee Gadgets | Wall Mount Light Dimmer Switch | Light Dimm offer both On/Off and Dimming control over a series of lights linked in the same circuit.

    • We need one dimmer switch for each set of Dimmable LED downlights which are linked to same roof circuit in series.

Sorry but I am trying hard to explain how it works.

So these switches are installed as a normal light switches and are wirelessly controlled via the NUE Zigbee Bridge? And the bridge connects to the household wifi router?

    • It is correct.

      • So I bought the Nue Bridge and 3gang wall switch with this offer but I'm having issues with the Hui Home app , I do the bind gateway bit, then log in and it takes me back to the screen that has the Bind Gateway, Add a wifi gateway or join the family options. I cant, get any further than that (IOS app).

  • I have this hub & switch - while it all works fine it takes Google Home a while to action the request (like 1-2 seconds), while my WiFi switch does it almost immediately. Is this normal for Zigbee devices & Google Home?

    • +2

thats normal for google tho, Alexa is faster at controlling smart devices, and siri is the fastest but limited devices

    • Please try to reboot the Zigbee bridge and see if the delay is still there.

      • My Philips Hue Bridge has the similar delay sometimes and it can be fixed by a reboot.

  • I tried getting the dimmer plate to work with my Clipsal dimmer/driver LED (preinstalled by builder) but unfortunately it flickers. The seller in Melbourne says "It is a leading edge dimmer" and hence not compatible with my Clipsal one. He reckons mine is lagging or universal and wont work.

I could get the Nue bridge hooked up to Google mini and has been working for on/off since over a week now. Happy with the function however, disappointed that I cannot get the theatre effect with dim lights etc. Anyone facing similar issue? Previous clipsal dimmer worked flawlessly.
