Mobile Phone For Seniors - Suggestions?

I need your help.

Mum is 92, hearing and visually impaired. She needs a simple mobile.

I have seen the KISA phone and it looks okay but has some limitations like it cannot dial, has 10 numbers max and she needs at least 12. Can someone suggest something else?

Any suggestions.

  • Does she need bluetooth functionality for her hearing aid/s?

  • My 89 yo mum has an Aspera F24. She complains that the ringer is too loud, but when I turn it down she complains that it's too soft and she doesn't hear it sometimes, so I have to turn it up again.

Choice magazine did a comparison, if you have/can get access:

    https://www.choice.com.au/electronics-and-technology/phones/…

  • Try this:
    http://madeezy.com.au/specifications.html

You can email them for locations where u can buy it

  • It's virtually impossible to suggest anything without knowing the potential user's capability but if it helps I've just bought two of these from Woolworth's stores (I seem to think that someone highlighted these in an Ozbargain post fairly recently):

I bought mine in Sydney but have seen them for sale in 'dump boxes' in Brisbane.

Woolworths are selling them off for $49. They are, of course, locked to Telstra but can be unlocked for around $2 from a UK eBay seller (I had the unlocking code in less than 24hrs of supplying the IMEI code) and I found a faux leather case on AliExpress which cost me a total of around $7 for the TWO cases delivered and which arrived in around 7 days!!!!

Once unlocked you can 'enjoy' the rates of the likes of Aldimobile (or from any other telecom that 'piggybacks' off of Telstra)

The phone has a 5" screen, the keypad is fairly large, as is the display when typing numbers and the ringing volume can be annoyingly loud (in fact I've never known a phone to ring so loud).

    I hope this helps.

  • Have previously tried this free launcher with okay result. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=me.simplymobil…

Or Nokia 3310, physical buttons. Vodafone locked version on sale at Coles until Tuesday.

    • Buttons on Nokia 3310 (2017) are still tiny as - especially the 4 way navigation buttons + function buttons. The font size is small and cannot be adjusted. The lock screen keeps coming up even I have disabled the auto lock screen function. I must confess I struggled to teach a 90y.o.
I would suggest to get the proper senior phones (that costs $90+) - if you do care about this senior person :)

      • Yep. Even remembering the correct order for the buttons to press is becoming a problem now to her. You are talking about someone that finds it hard to even answer the phone much less dial.

A decent senior phone is at least $90+

Looking around I have decided on the KISA and thanks to everyone for your comments.
