The description on the website is not very clear (other than that it reminds you that someone broken into your home, and that you can open your window for fresh air).
Does anyone know if you could attach this to your garage door to warn you if you left it open?
You need a xiaomi gateway for this device to work.
If I understand correctly, when the door/window is open, or closed it can make sound or light on the gateway.
It may also give you a notification on the smartphone app.
Yes I use it for this purpose. Although it is difficult to attach as the device will not work properly when attached to metal (it uses a magnet to sense detection).
You need the Xiaomi Gateway too of course. And then I use Home Assistant to time if its been left open and notify me after 30 minutes.
Thanks, will have to find a good deal on a gateway now :)
I did the same just this weekend. I found using our rail that has the pull mechanism the best place. Placing the sensor on the door itself made the sensor unresponsive, probably due to all the metal.
This is a great workaround. Thanks for sharing!
The door window sensor had been around 6-7aud from GB and LITB in the past. Has price gone up now? I would not mind grabbing a couple if it was a bit cheaper.
Not going to downvote, but I just wanted to warn people that Rosegal seems to have worse shipping than any other China/HK based company I've purchased from.
If you see this thread on the SN30 deal that was posted in March, it's been one and a half months and people are still awaiting their item, myself included, even though it's supposedly been in Sydney since the 15th of March.
Also, I figured out that they store passwords in plaintext, so if you do sign up for an account don't use a password you're not willing to have compromised.
Edit: just saw stratbargain's comment saying the same thing mostly, so sorry for the dupe. Password thing is new information though and definitely worth considering.
If you do purchase from them, make sure you use PayPal.
Door/window sensor doesn’t seem much of a deal…
