  • Which store is this?

    • Hoppers Crossing. Other stores might have this offer as well

      • Thanks OP. Would you mind uploading your receipt? Thanks.

  • Good price. I put it on my GO at launch for $1k flat. They work really well.

    • +1

      GO?

      • GO mastercard interest free. Think I got 60 months on these. Dad bought a set too.

First result on Google is $729.

    • +2

Only two cameras on that one.

      • Ah good spot.

  • Great price and find OP for the Pro 2 models.

Au PCMag gives them 4.5 star rating out of 5.

This may very well be the time to stop waiting and see JB tomorrow.

    • Read the comments to that very same link you gave. I found a similar so so review this morning - all the commenters were owners of this system - none of them had much good to say. Read the comments of your own link first then read this one: https://www.cnet.com/products/netgear-arlo-pro/review/2/#com…

      • These reviews are for Pro. The one for sale is the latest pro-2.

        • The first linked review by hsvprez is for pro2. Comments by owners are pretty much the same as for previous ver - nobody who has them has anything good to say.

  • Hi OP,how come on jb website it is still $999???

    • +1

I have mine outside (original Arlo and Arlo Pro gen 1).
Recently got the solar panel and it works well.

    • +1

      i have the pro 1 with 5 cameras. 3 outside, 2 inside.

worka really well, i recharge them once a month.

No good. Read the comments following the reviews: https://www.cnet.com/products/netgear-arlo-pro/review/2/#com…

It's the same for the other (previous) posted review here - read the comments.

    EXPENSIVE

  • Anyone want to sell me their third camera? PM me :)

  • Amazing price for the set. I paid $700 for my two Pro 2 camera set less than two months ago and then another $300 for a third Pro 2 camera.

    • How have you found them and the battery life?

      • +1

Really happy. Battery life was about a week per camera for me being used in relatively high traffic areas (my dog walking around). I set sensitivity high as I wanted to see what she was upto during the day when my wife and I were out.

I ended up leaving them both plugged in all the time so I could get all the footage without having to unplug, take off from the wall mount, etc each week. I used some $15 cable mount adhesives from Bunnings to make it look tidy, and also used an existing 3m long Micro USB cable (warning: the one in the box is only about 2m long, and the plug is thinner/smaller than most Micro USB plugs).

My third camera is using the $35 ball mount I bought during the last 20% off eBay sale (totally worth it as much more stable and flexible) and that's going great too.

All in all, very happy. The app works well with easy to use/geofencing/etc, the hard drive plugged in works well, etc. Only thing worrying me is the base station and my Telstra Gateway Frontier router are in a cupboard and I noticed the air can get really warm with door shut.

        • Thanks for such a thorough response.
I'm a bit concerned about the one week battery life.
I'm seriously looking at these for outside my house, but wouldn't want to be charging the battery more than every few months - it's a rental property and probably not realistic to have them powered/plugged in constantly.
Do you think they'd be suitable, or the battery inadequate?

        • @Car-la-la: Depends how often they trigger and what kind of activity you have. Mine is recorded hundreds of snippets a day. Other people I know have reported months of battery life.

  • How long can the battery last if the camera motion sensor constantly get triggered by shadow movements from trees due to wind?

    • You've an option to set the focus area… just to avoid street walkers/ other natural disturbances.

      • +3

That feature is only available if the camera is plugged into AC power.

        • Correct. But you can set sensitivity level down to not catch so many things (eg light movement or sound from loud car outside).

        • @jace88: You're absolutely correct, I totally forgot about the sensitivity adjustment. I'm going to adj my Alro Pro to see if it can stop picking up cars driving pass the driveway.

    • I just recharged my Arlo Pro batteries for the first time since I installed them in October last year. Mine don't get triggered all the time. Occasionally when it's stupidly windy and the tree nearby activates the cam. But passing traffic etc doesn't set it off. YMMV depending on your install location.

  • Anyone else validate this price yet?

    • +2

      It's in their catalog:
      https://catalogue.jbhifi.com.au/2018/04/19-april-camera-bona…

      Also mentioned on whirlpool:
      https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2334717#r56282766

Office Works had the same price on Monday, but on Tuesday the price was back to RRP ~$1098.

JBHIFI doesn't have this Pro 2, 3 camera set on their website.

I think this might be an error. As the JB Ticket price of $999 is for the Gen 1 Arlo pro, not the Gen 2. The Ticket price for Gen 2 Arlo pro is around $1090. WHich is probably why Office works reverted it back pretty quickly.

Alternatively, if you wanted to you can get it slightly cheaper at IT stores such as the following: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/374280

      • Thanks - Would office works price match? Ive never tried it but their website says so…

    • Won't they still have to honour it if it's in their catalogue?
The catalogue clearly says "New model"

      • Probably. Get in quick if you can.
I almost missed it, and not sure if jb stores have stock.

Can't order online as it is not on the website.
Office works had no stock, but their price is RRP now.

  • +1

Stumbled on this… looks good if they can deliver: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1116368506/evercam-the-…

    • I saw this too decided not to back, before even looking at the specs however I already had a concern about the camera design.

The evercam is using the magnetic ball mount, from experience these hold on strong for the Arlo Pro. The evercam looks like it'll have it's weight distributed further away from the mount point which will likely make it slip unless they incorporated a much stronger magnet.

No details on the battery capacity, questionable facial recognition on battery power, unproven proprietary wireless connectivity to base station as some tech observations, little information on recording modes (continuous, look back).

  • Just got an email from JB Hifi.
    Stocktake sale is on.
Discount is probably part of that (even though Arlo is not part of the "Home Security" discount below).

30% off Home Security (DLink, Swann, Uniden)
    30% off Car Sound
    20% off Dash Cams
    20% off Portable Navigation
    20% off UHF Radios
    20% off Kenwood Mixers
20% off Blenders and Food Processors
20% off Argento and Icona Toasters and Kettles
    15% off TVs
    15% off Surface pro laptops.

I bought this at their Pitt St, Sydney store an hour ago - no mention of pricing error or anything, and they seem to have stock left.

    • Looking at this right now, item has a ticket at this price

    • 2 or 3 cameras?

  • Wonder if HN will price match? Have a HN giftcard to use up.

    • Tried that. The HN sales guy said they will if
      * item is in stock and they check their website for it.
      * item is advert on their website (which it is not for JB)

I showed them the catalog, and they say it must be an out of date catalog - which is wasnt. And he wouldnt do it. So i walked out.

      • I have just tried that on HN online and they accepted, maybe you can try the online chat.

        • Just bought from HN online, they priced match straight up.

        • I did. He just ignored me, and said the website is often the most up to date even though i showed him its a current catalog. He wouldn't budge. He pointed to the Gen 1 Arlo Pro, 3 camera set priced at $999 on the JB website — which is what the JB catalog displayed as original Ticketed Price (thus my thinking it is a pricing error in the catalog which should have been the Gen 1 set, and not the Gen 2 set). But anyway, I didnt want to explain it was Gen 1 instead of Gen 2 that he was referring to on the JB website.

He did mumble that JB probably have some sort of rebate agree from Netgear which allowed them to discount it - but at that point, i didn't care much and i was bummed by his previous attitude.

Alls well that ends well. No business for HN. I got it from Bing Lee instead :)

$779 delivered from these guys (i know nothing about them - just did a search)

    https://www.devicedeal.com.au/cctv-surveillance/surveillance…

    • +1

      That's the old version.

      • Apologies, didn't notice the "2" after pro.

  • There is so much bad review on Arlo pro 2 I don't knowingly want to spend so much money on it.

On the same page there is a Swan wireless 3 camera set for $649, which has good reviews on the net. Anyone with experience with them?

    • Just get yourself a Hikvision IP camera. Far superior quality and cheaper. (You'll need a NVR to record to, or use an old/spare PC to handle this).

  • why not just get this unit? you get more cameras at a cheaper price, Swann SWDVK-845808 - https://www.jbhifi.com.au/swann/swann-swdvk-845808-full-hd-s…

    • Those are on BNC cables so also need a separate power source

      • Sorry I don't understand your comment, electronics need power.

        • Yeah nothing wrong with it with two cables per camera. It's just relatively more hassle to set up compared to PoE or wifi cameras which would only need one cable. So these ones are possibly cheaper because the initial set up takes more effort. If you don't mind that then they work fine.

  • Officeworks has the Arlo Pro 2 - 2 Camera system for $497

    • Do you have a link?

    • how did you manage that?

      Ticketed price, or negotiation?

      • Had a ticket on there for 497

        • Wow that's a pretty good deal considering one camera is $350.

Mind sharing a copy of your receipt pls? :)

        • +1

          @Futurist:

          I think mighty-atom bought this https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/363206

The display box used to take to the counter is labelled "Arlo Pro 2 Pack" which would make you believe it means 'Arlo Pro 2' + 'Pack'. I also thought this at first glance when browsing Officeworks for deals during lunch break, I didn't think to take a photo at the time but a quick check on OzBargain on the deal mentioned verified this was a Pro and not a Pro 2.

It was still a pretty good deal.

  • Same, if you have a copy, can you pm me too?

  • +1

Has anyone seen this receipt yet??
It's $798 on their website, sounds to me like the standard Arlo Pro with the "2" meaning 2 cameras like a lot of sellers on Ebay are using in their listings to trick people. Either that or a staff member stuffed up :) .

  • Bought.
Thanks OP for a great deal.
I need another 2 cameras however a single camera is $300.
Hoping for a deal on addons..

    • I’m in the same boat. Bought a three pack and want two more cameras. They’re $550 inc shipping from Amazon US which is the cheapest I’ve found so far. But… it’d be nice to have them all from JB for warranty.

  • Not sure why everyone is getting confused. This is netgear pro 2 3 camera set which is in the jb catalogue standard promo pricing IMO. Buy it with a giftcard total $751.06. Curious how Op managed to get a further $20 off?

The jb staff wouldn't budge with further discount and could only give 20% off overpriced netgear mounts

  • any chance you could PM the receipt please. looking at getting this as well.

    • I think the deal has expired. It was in their catalogue but now the prices are back to RRP.
