Black Golf Umbrella $5 C&C (Or +Delivery) @ Officeworks

3700

Greetings everyone, thought this was worth sharing as I received one recently and thought it was excellent value for the price.

It is very sturdy and extremely light for the size, and much cheaper than any other "golf" sized umbrella's I can find on the market. For comparison, Target have one for $19.

Add shipping if required, but shipped to store is the cheapest option. There's not much stock in stores, so these are shipped to the store from the warehouse.

It's also available on their eBay Store for further savings if you have any.

As always, enjoy!

This is part of Mother's Day deals for 2018.

Thanks. Good timing as my golf umbrella just broke the other day.

      Do you play golf?

      • +8

I only use these when playing golf.

I've tried using them for other things but they are not as good.

      • +3

Sure do. Most weekends at Victoria Park in Brisbane. Thanks for asking @jv!

  • Nice, got a few as spares

  • Is this a double canopy type umbrella?

    Title — +$5.95 Delivery
    Description — Add $5 shipping
OW — Country delivery adds $25.95

Problematic specifying shipping cost as it varies with location.

    • Thanks for the update, I have changed the title and description as different locations may have different costs.

    • Maybe try the eBay site instead ? It might be flat fee postage that way ? (Haven't tried it as I'm doing Click and Collect)

      • eBay $5.95 postage Australia wide except QLD Far North, WA Remote.

        • Ah ok gotcha. Interesting that it costs more internally in Australia to ship depending on location, I didn't think it'd be different.

    • Same here

  • Thanks OP. PayPal was not working for C&C however it did accept credit card.

    • +1

It worked for me, was slow though.

      • Odd. I got ‘there was a problem’ or something very similar 3 times before I successfully tried CC first time.

How do three umbrellas compare to the Bunnings ones? The Bunnings ones are the gold standard for umbrellas under $15.

    • +1

      Wot aboot the ALDI ones?

      • Aldi one is quite sturdy. A Super Cheap Auto one I bought several years ago was junk that started to disintegrate just on the first opening.

    • How do three umbrellas compare to the Bunnings ones?

The Bunnings' one is double canopy umbrella, similar to OzBargainer's favourite Woodworm umbrella, but more sturdy than Woodworm's one.

    • +3

      Wtf?

    • +2

This is why stores place limits on certain products.

  • Thanks Op. Picked up 2… not for xmas :)

  • +7

iKEA has a similar product for $3.99 (you have to have an IKEA Family membership). Have a few in the boot of the car and they’re pretty good.

    https://m.ikea.com/au/en/catalog/products/art/70281266/

    • Good find! Might be worthwhile if it's easy for people to get to IKEA.

    • +3

While their umbrellas are OK, they aren't comparable in size with a golf umbrella.
Barely fits one person, where as golf umbrellas will usually cover two people comfortably.

  • +1

Bought two. Figured I might as well buy a backup if I'm going to be paying $6 for shipping.

  • How do I know what size this is? All My umbrellas are kinda small (not that small but my backpack gets wet). Will this cover both me and my backpack in a rain?

    • It is quite large, I would imagine that it would definitely cover both in the rain.

  • +4

From the eBay link; "This Golf Umbrella is perfect for protecting yourself against rain. It has a large design to keep you dry. This umbrella is black. Keyboard & Mouse. Descriptive Colour : Black. Ensure you have your original receipt."

Plus a bonus keyboard and mouse? Perfect.

Why is it called a 'golf umbrella'? Is it used for playing the sport golf with? I see so many old people waking up really early playing at this golf course as I drive on my way to work…

    • +6

You can use it as a putter.

    • Typically used for golf because of their larger size.
Covers club bag while standing over it.

  • can i use these when its sunny?

    • +6

Definitely better than a hat for sun protection. If I could use one as a parasol (like some Asian women) as a pasty blonde male without getting laughed off the face of Australia I would.

      • +6

"Approximately, two in three Australians will be diagnosed with skin cancer by the time they are 70"
"Australia has one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world."

        https://www.cancer.org.au/about-cancer/types-of-cancer/skin-…

Screw the laughing, you'll never see them again. I always remind my mates and my brothers to put on sunscreen before they leave the house, especially when they go swimming/play sport.

Alternatives: Add sunscreen to your daily regimen. There are SPF moisturisers. Wear sunnies and a hat :D

        • I agree, but not like the feeling of sunscreen on skin.

  • Are these only good if you play golf?

  • I tried click and collect and estimated pickup time is 3 August 2018??

    • I just tried my local store and got the same timeframe (Adelaide St, Brisbane CBD). But on eBay it says the 28th of April, I think that seems more reasonable as other states say 30/4.

      • Haha I used that store too then checked another store in Brisbane and got same date. Ordered 1 anyway guess I'll get it by next summer anyway.

        • Yeah really weird lol, that's an insane timeline but I think it might just be an error..

        • @doweyy:

          Hi Doweyy,
Did you pickup your order on 28th April?
My pickup date was also 28th April but I didn't hear anything from OW yet.
          Thanks

      • +1

Used the same store and had ETA of 23rd april (today) but i think i ordered earlier.

        • Same ETA for me as well.

    • Stores with stock had collection for next day. Once store stock goes, they send it from the warehouse to store which shows collection date as 1 week as they will send. Warehouse must be out of stock and the next shipment must arrive late July to get an August collection.

  • Thanks Op!! I'm buying 7 tomorrow to put in office…because you'll never know when the goddamn weather gonna change here ini Melb lol

  • Was just at the end of the checkout and now the site is down.

    • Noticed that too, seems to be back up now.

    • Site is down. I just finished C&C on their ebay store.

      • It just worked for me.

  • Thanks, I just ordered two.

  • damn just checked out of ebay with $30+ and used PULL5. Could've added this. Now I don't want to buy it because I COULD'VE saved 25c! Lol

  • Hmm, although it does say (mobile site)

“It is large and wide to prevent rain from getting you wet.”

if you dig deeper into the specs, you discover

    Product Dimensions (mm)
    40W x 40D x 850H mm

I’m not sure how dry it will keep you at only 4cm wide…

(It is nice and long though)

    • Just want to said. Is sure for golf?

    • +2

i'm not sure about you, but i open my umbrella when i use it.

    • Just right for a cocktail.

    • Stem is 4cm

  • Got 2. Thanks

  • +1

Got 4 thanks.. 2 for me (1 for car and 1 for work) and same for my wife car and backup

  • I will take it, thank you, question: they seem like out of stock in the store if i still order can i get it when they get available?

    Thanks OP, bought… FORE!

  • Estimated collection Friday August 3….that’s a very long wait….delivery had the same eta I am guessing they’re out of stock now and are taking forward orders

  • Nice Christmas gift

  • Needed this. My old woodworm has rusted it's tip off and the fabric is wearing thin in some patches. It's been well used.

  • +1

Thanks OP! Don't need golf umbrella but since it's over 270+ likes so I grabbed a couple. Cheers!

Bought a couple to justify my name.

    • +1

And in case you make a hole in one.

  • I have been trying since last night and they kept cancelling my.pick up orders after paying by CC

  • Thanks OP, bought four!

  • Thanks OP, bought four!

  • Thanks OP, bought two..

  • +1

Just got one. FYI Seems light and not as big as 'golf' umbrellas should be - more like a regular umbrella. Handle is made of foam.

    • Did you already pick it up or you just ordered it? I'd agree with that statement.

      • bought it from the local OW. They had 3. Still thought it was worth a go for $5. But as an OzB'er I'd probably say these are worth $3 :p

        • Lol awesome! $5 seems reasonable enough to me :)

    • +1

Agree. I picked just ONE up today from my local. Definitely wouldnt call them Golf Umbrellas as they are much larger and double braced. Foam handle seems nice and they appear to be sturdy although I'll reserve that until I use it in the rain and wind

  • something something.. keep it for a rainy day
