    Bleh, 2 stars only.
You will save more in the long term by converting to 4 star, only a few hundred more but you will save a lot on your power bills.
Just remember to compare the KWH.

    • There are no 4-star fridges currently sold in Australia in the 300-400L category; the highest is currently 3-star. The energy rating system was updated last year, and this was a 4-star fridge under the old system. See http://www.energyrating.gov.au/appsearch/refrig_srch.asp for comparisons.

Damn, that would explain a lot.
However, doesn't explain why I got voted down. lol.

Bargain a 2.5 star stainless steel fridge down to $1000, minus PV of $50 annuity. Bargain.
        This isn't clearly.

You also need to look at how long fridges last.

Save at least $50 a year on electricity. 60kwh difference.

I didn't vote you down, and I got voted down too for whatever reason despite my comment being purely informative. I wouldn't take being voted down too personally. :)

Also, a 60kWh a year difference isn't going to save you "at least $50 a year" over the life of this fridge. At the current energy rate (in NSW) of 17.5c/kWh the saving amounts to $10.50 a year. The difference in energy costs between a 2-star and 2.5-star fridge isn't enough to worry about, IMHO.

          It's actually more around $75 each year… I used 10 cents a kilowatt.

        • I think you're confusing kilowatt hours and kilowatts in your calcuations (particularly when you're using a "10 cents a kilowatt" rate, when electricity retailers all charge by kWh in Australia). I'd encourage you to check the calculator provided when comparing fridges at http://www.energyrating.gov.au/appsearch/refrig_srch.asp

A comparison between this 2-star fridge and a similar capacity 2.5-star fridge, using the current 17.5c/kWh rate in NSW:

          2-star Mistubishi MR385BSTA uses 490 kWh/year, costing $85.75 a year to run.
          2.5-star Fisher & Paykel E381T uses 417 kWh/year, costing $72.98 a year to run.

Saying you save "$75 each year" by going with a 2.5-star fridge instead is completely incorrect.

This and the Logitech N700 are nice deals for a change though. Who knows this might become a trend.
