Be aware things like this have to be approved safe on Aus. roads by your states road authority assuming you get an overzealous copper. Happy to be corrected otherwise.

    • I dont think approval is required

I don't recommend this, I just purchased a 45mm one and found it simply too small to see (easily)
I recently picked up 2 of these suckers.

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/272300526982

They do use about 1/4 to 1/3 of my mirror but really are very useful. (I have fairly large mirrors though)
I don't like the small ones, I just can't SEE anything.

or you could save your $5 and adjust your mirrors correctly.
a lot of people think they need to see part of the car in their mirrors all the time like they're afraid it'll just disappear.
your mirrors should be adjusted so you can see a vehicle in an adjacent lane the entire time from your rearview to your wing mirrors as it passes you.

Seeing a little bit of behind you is good, which means aiming it to see a tiny bit of your car.

      • +3

You don't need to see a bit of your car.

Tdw is right, adjusting your mirrors correctly will eliminate/reduce blindspots

That's what your rear vision mirror is for

These pick up Blind spots without twisting your head around. Standard mirrors (without the wide components) cannot pick up blind spots.

      • you still need to turn your head every time, no matter what kind of fancy mirrors you have

        • That depends on the vehicle you are driving and if there is anything blocking you from checking the blind spot (passengers, cargo or even the design of the vehicle). Hence why Wide angle mirrors was invented.

  • I bought something like this for my older Forester which has oversized but otherwise flat mirrors. I likes how my Golf has a slight curve near the edge for wider viewing.

But I never put them on. I couldn’t see how the back would sit flush, and the real mirror would keep showing the back of this smaller one.

I tried various attached mirrors and found this sort ( https://www.amazon.com/Mirror-Auxiliary-Safety-Offers-Forest… ) - with two independent mirrors - to be the most useful. As tdw mentioned above I have my main mirrors adjusted so that I can see the lanes to the side of my car and with these I can also see in lanes 2 or 3 across as well as my rear tyres so I can easily see the car position in relation to lines when parking.

  • I don't understand.

This is the exact point of side mirrors…

      Seriously?
      Really?

      • Yes? Why? What do you think your side mirrors are for?

        • +1

people either get it or they don't. the latter are the ones who hit or almost hit you when they change lanes because they "haven't seen" you.

      Blind Spots

This is just a watse of money plis makes your car looks like a RICER. Ever wonder why the safest car company in the world Volvo don't use this to their mirror system? Because its useless. Just adjust your mirrors to the far out corner of the car until u almsot cant see the side body panel…that's your blind spot monitoring system upgrade.

  • looks useless, great item

i point them downwards to help with parking (i mean the regular rounds one)

Don't use these, turn your (profanity) head.

    thanks,
    Motorbike rider.
