The deal last week was for this machine and 5 boxes of pods for $99.

Which makes the machine worth about $60.

  • What's the typical lifespan of a capsule?

    • +1

Each box of capsules typically has 8 pods inside which are single use like a Nespresso

Some of them have 16 pods because it takes 2 pods per drink (ie cappuccino has a milk pod and a coffee pod) but it still makes 8 drinks

      • +2

The boxes have 16 pods each, drinks that require 2 pods, like cappuccino, will only give you 8 serves.

Whilst drinks that require only 1 pod, like Café au lait or Americano, will give you 16 serves

About 6-8 months expiry if you purchase them straight from Nescafe (ie not sitting on the shelves as a store), depending on flavour. The ones I bought in March expire in November. Since you are getting 320 capsules, you'd want to be averaging 1 and a half coffees a day to get through these before expiry.

    • Thanks for the explanations! Didn't know certain drinks required 2 pods.

  • 8 pods in each.. so it’s around 1 dollar per cup?

Pods are at best valued at 35 cents each. Assuming 20 boxes with 16 pods each (best case) then the true value of the pods are = $0.35x8x20 = $112. This means you are effectively paying ~ $57 for the machine.

  • Ugly, tacky, plasticy junk machine and very VERY average tasting coffee.

  • Once upon a time they had a two for one deal on their boxes.

I went to town and bought up big.

Oh how I wish they’d bring that back. Don’t need another machine!
