    Isn't this the normal price?

    • +4

It says on the page: Was $2.49, Now $2.

  • +15

These taste better than the Coles ones too.

    • +1

i was going to say the same… both woollies n Coles ones are way too sweet!

    • +3

      Lol, same manufacture

      • Different recipe?

        • +1

One got more sugar? when you compare ingredients list, even the sugar content is same with Coles.

    • +1

The Coles ones are frankly quite shite, my son refuses to eat them. The French ones at Woolies are very good, but Aldis are comparable and price competitive.

    • +1

      Aldi's ones taste good.

They last suspiciously long, though, I have no idea what preservatives they put in them, but they never go mouldy or stale.

      • If they didn't taste good, you would find out they do go mouldy and stale. I suspect you eat them fairly soon after purchase.
In my fridge anyway, only the cheap&nasty bread goes stale. The good tatsing bread, I usually eat full loaf before it has long enough to go stale.

    • +1

Coles- baked in store (from imported Irish ingredients)…

  • +9

These take a dump on the Coles ones. Coles ones are very dense and stale. I am 90% sure the Aldi brand ones are just repackaged La Fournee Doree brand ones. They seem to be identical, as well as La Fournee Doree also sells a 6 pack of hot dog brioche buns, just as Aldi do, which also seem to be identical.

Fun story: One time I was at a food truck event, and I saw at the back of one of the burger trucks a huge stack of these Aldi brioche buns haha.

    • Totally agree with "Coles ones are very dense and stale". Had to buy them once when Aldi was out of theirs.

    • i've occasionally seen the owner of a popular local cafe buying her ingredients at Aldi.

    "my secret recipe"

You can tell us, we're family :)

Awesome buns, makes great pulled-pork or chicken teriyaki sandwiches

    • -3

      pulled pork

Pork is the other white meat.

  • Is it possible to get nutrition information from the website? I want to know how many grams sugars per 100g.

    • +4

Don't know but since I have a pack here, 10.6g

    • +2

Don't use them in your restaurant though or you'll face hypocrisy.

      • Pardon?

        • GordonR shouldn't use prepackaged things to serve his customers or he might he is on the next kitchen nightmares.

        • Gordon Ramsay.

  • +3

    Yes recipe please

    • +6

Walked into aldi the other day picked up these :

      $2 brioche buns
Marinated jerk chicken steaks (4 in a pack)
      $5 bag of kale-slaw

Added cheese slices and peri peri Mayo and made a burger.

Took about 10 mins to make and were delicious.

Feeds 4 (or 2 hungry people) for around 15 bucks

      • +3

Sounds like the go. My mrs likes to whack Aldi ice cream into the bun to make an ice cream burger which hits the spot and is less messy than a cone

        • +3

          You married well.

        • Ooh I also put avocado, went really well with it

        • That is like the Simpsons episode where Homer has to be creative with his food to become morbid obese as fast as possible.

  • +11

*complement. Otherwise it would be a very weird BBQ.

  • Product Description
Our luxuriously fluffy brioche burger buns are made in France with rich butter and fresh eggs.

    Made in France? seriously?

    • +2

Maybe the dough is made there, frozen and then baked here.

    • +1

I think they get baked in France and come over frozen.

On the packaging it states to not freeze meaning they have already been frozen at some stage.

      • Good detective work!

        • +2

They come to the store and are stored at the store frozen before being put on the shelf. I found that out the other day when they ran out and grabbed me some from out the back. They are still a lovely delicate bun though.

      • +2

They’re frozen, unfrozen at the store overnight and taken out

        • +9

          unfrozen at the store overnight

Some of the staff at my local Coles store look like that.

        • Woolies does that too for La Fournee brand broiche bun. They have cheaper, better and fresh broiche buns Bakeru du jou and they are made in Australia lol

  • +3

    Clicked in for the recipe…haha

  • -2

The hipsters are taking over with their snobby buns

    • +2

new take on the macca's sugar buns.. ;) Hipsters only have gluten free cronut burgers made from 100% vegan paddies that is then made from ingredients that the sun only hits at a 45deg angle for a specific amount of time.

    • +4

You don’t have to consume them if you’d prefer not to.

  • +4

Other recipes include "like a vegan" and "arterial grill".

    • "Papa don't peach"

  • +2

These are my go to burger buns.

Very light as well so you don't fill up on bread.

  • +3

This is probably a fairer price comparison for Woolies, not that I've tried them though.

    • Agreed. Fresh and made in Australia too.

      • +1

Worth posting as a deal, but I guess all these Aussies would prefer made in France sold by Germans.

  • +5

Don't forget to pick up some special burger sauce from Coles.

    • Mannnn the best

  • Hot tip - fill with Nutella and put in the waffle iron. Or bacon and egg. You're welcome.

  • Coles brioche buns are nasty. Too sweet and often unpleasant taste from the butter. Aldi buns are much better.

Re using them for burgers, they are not suited for big fat rissoles but if you make smash burgers, ie thin patties around 90gm each they work really well. Also good for pulled pork.

  • -3

these has been $2 for over a week now.. just posted now?

    • +7

Feel free to post next time you see a good deal!

  • +2

I have been using these buns in my bistro and the locals just love my burgers, especially the buns.

    • +2

Is it just the locals that love your buns?

  • Anyone got any favourite burger recipes to share?

    • +12

$8 burger patties from Coles do the job, squish 2 together for a fat Pattie. Generous amount of salt and pepper pressed in. Grill on the pan for a few minutes. Light pink in the middle is perfect.
Once almost cooked, place tasty cheese on top, pour a small amount of water into the hot pan and cover with a lid to steam the parties for a little bit.

Melt down some Wagyu rendered fat (from Coles) or butter and brush onto the aldi buns for a moist, super buttery taste. Grill buns until lightly charred.

Layer burger in following bottom to top order.

      • Bottom bun
      • Coles burger sauce (faux big Mac sauce)
      • Lettuce
      • Burger patties with cheese already melted
      • Tomatoes
      • Sprinkle of salt
      • Sliced pickled gherkins
      • Tomato and Mustard sauce
      • Chopped jalapenos for a kick
      • Top bun

Side of frozen chips in the air fryer, well salted and a chilled $1 aldi energy drink is the perfect meal

      • Brilliant.

      • "steam the parties for a little bit."
        I love a steam party…

    • The Jalapeno Burger patties from Aldi are great, mixed with their Havarti cheese, shortcut bacon, & Burger Relish.

    • +2

this is very different BUT … Ingham turkey Rissoles i combine 2 and flatten them (one if its for a small kid haha) .. fry it like usual burger.. throw cheese on it like herbse describes, tomato sauce, mustard, pickle and Jalapeno (massive jar from aldi love that stuff) … minus the jalapeno, my kids like them more than burgers outside even maccas :)

u can add lettuce or chopped onion if u like as well ala maccas :)

      kids call'm Turgers .. hahahaha

    YUMMO!!

  • +2

These are pretty good (as with most food from Aldi) and this is a good price

  • +3

I only came here for the comments.

    Was not disappointed.

  • +1

    Pulled pork is a scam!

  • These + Aldi's 5-star beef mince + salt/pepper seasoning only + Coles special burger sauce + a nice cheese = super delicious

  • +1

    These comments are delicious!

  • Feel like having beachside BBQ now, over this weekend. Only beachside (and BBQ areas) will be crazy busy/crowded with school holidays just starting.

  • I see they're al so on sale at Woolies now. However, sale at Woolies for about $4…

  • Good price. Also the American style cheese can still be bought at Coles, and is a fantastic burger addition.

  • 2comments for Coles burger sauce already. Worth the rave..?

    • 3 comments, not including yours. and yes, worth the rave.
