no need for a bridge
when you set up your account with MI home just choose the Singapore server and all good to use google smart home
i have it already working at my home with no bridge
I thought it used the Yeelight app?
You dont need mi home app, only the the yeelight app connects to Google home and Alexa
You just need the yeelight app on iPhone or Android and link that to Google home via the Google home app and select yeelight or for Amazon echo download the yeelight skill
This is a good price for the new Yeelights.
What's the difference between the old yeelights and these?
10 watts and 800 lumens is the main thing.
They're white, a bit smaller and are 800 lumens vs the old 600.
Expensive…
They starting to get to hue/lifx pricing
Hardly… At less than half the price of lifx and hue bulbs.. a closer comparison would be the lightify rgbw bulbs now going for ~$30 each…
"Spice up the mood for your significant other" ( ͡☉ ͜ʖ ͡☉)
I have an old version which doesn't compare well to Lifx bulbs but this new version appears to be heaps better because:
A. It is brighter than the predecessor
B. It supports Apple HomeKit
With the native support of HomeKit, this has to be cheapest smart bulb you can buy.
can this light be turned on remotely as in while overseas etc?
Yes, as long as you have internet connected to the bulb.
Thank you. going to buy some.
Is there a cheap wireless switch that would work with these?
Yes, made by Xiaomi themselves. You can use:
The small circular button: https://www.gearbest.com/smart-light-bulb/pp_257679.html
Wireless wall switch: https://www.gearbest.com/alarm-systems/pp_610096.html
Don't forget the Magic Cube

Seems a bit gimmicky, but works well, has six different functions
Turn Right to make lights brighter, turn left to dim lights. This counts as one function.
@Xev - it looks great. Do we need anything else (like a bridge etc) to make it work with these lights?
@IMadeYouReadThis: Sorry for the delay
Yes, you need the Xiaomi gateway to use any switch, sensor etc.
But you can often pick them up for around AU$25.00
@xev:
Thanks Xev, I will look around and see if I can grab one for that price.
I'd like one of these since I have a few yeelight products already but the pricing is almost double the pricing of the old one (before the Xiaomi price hike) so I might wait a little bit and see if this comes down to the low $20's
Out of interest do these connect to Google Home or do you need a bridge?
