[NSW, VIC] Free Movies and Documentaries Streaming with Local Library Card Membership @ Kanopy

340

Time to put those library cards in good use!

Kanopy, which specialises in indie and arthouse films and documentaries, has launched in Australia and it's offering over 30,000 films and documentaries for free. To access Kanopy you just need to be a member at your local public library, and can stream from home.

While not all Australian public libraries have yet jumped on board, all 6 of the City of Melbourne's libraries recently signed up, as well the 5 located in the Yarra City Council and in the Maribyrnong City Council area. In Sydney, members of Randwick City Library and Sutherland Shire Council's 8 libraries can currently use Kanopy, and Brisbane's are expected to follow suit soon. If you're a student, it's worth checking if you can access the service through your uni's library.

  • Does anybody know how much data usage MB/GB a typical film 90 minute film on Kanopy would eat up? On a basicMBB 20GB 180 day package.

    • Supposedly uses 1GB-3GB an hour. So a bit
