PULL5

Greetings everyone, thought it would be worthwhile posting this one up considering the interest it got last time it was posted.

This is the new version of this power bank with Quick Charge 3.0 support, and dual USB input and output. Due to the recent restrictions on imports of power banks I believe this is a great price. I believe it's the cheapest it has ever been offered at and heaps in stock.

This item ships from Melbourne. Gearbite have awesome service, quick delivery and a great warranty service if required during the warranty period (12 months).

Please note: Only silver is currently in stock.

As always, enjoy!

  • Any black in stock?

  • +1

Is there a cover for it?

    • +5

Why would you need a cover for a powerbank?

      • +26

        Cold during winter in Melbourne.

      • +1

Xiaomi make some nice silicone covers for their banks. Makes them a little bit more rugged, handy for travelling, it's also has a loop to mount to a strap or belt.

      • My biggest pet peeve about these is they are metal and so can scratch your device if thrown in the same bag as your phone.

    • Have looked everywhere but can't find anything that accommodates the extra length vs the standard power bank 2.

      • +4

It's always a problem having extra length!

    • Yes, on ebay. I bought this one.
Fits fine, although time will tell; ones I bought for the original xiaomi 10400mAh power bank had a tendency to stretch and get loose

  • Isn't QC3.0 12v ?

  • Does anyone know how to know if this can recharge a laptop like XPS 13 or Macbook?

    How can I know?

    • +5

Not this one unfortunately, you need one that offers Power Delivery (PD) such as the ZMI USB-c bank or some of the Anker ones, they're quite a bit more expensive though.

      • +1

        I see… thank you!

  • +2

Just confirming this device can be charged with QC 3.0, and once charged, will discharge providing qc 3.0 compliant, (5V/9V/12V) charging to other devices?

    • +1

      Yes that is correct

      • +1

        thanks

    • +3

Yes that's correct. It supports QC both in and out, so you need QC 3.0 chargers to charge it fast, and then a device which supports QC3.0 to output it fast.

Blitzwolf BW-S6 is a great charger for this, charges my QC 2.0 version really quickly.

      • It doesn't do QC while the bank is charging and charging your phone at the same time.

It can only do normal charge to your phone while QC charging itself

The old version from two years ago works

        I say that's going backwards

    • I'm using Ravpower to charge my Xiaomi Air.

      • Is yours the 12.5 or 13.3 model? I can't get my 13.3 one to charge with 30W.

        • 13.3 :)

        • @yolow: Well I guess it must vary with chargers. I got a Blitzwolf USB C 30W charger that wouldnt work

  • +2

    An OzBargain essential.
    Thanks doweyy.

    • hmmm..surely a version that ran off eneloops would be even more essential ?

      • Xiaomi power banks are the new eneloops.

  • Charge note8?

  • Does this have USB-C input?

    • Negative, it has a micro-usb or USB-B input.

      • Thanks mate. No deal for me. Is there an equivalent QC3 model with USB-C input?

        • There is the Mi Power Bank Pro which does that, doesn't get this cheap though and doesn't go on sale very often unfortunately.

        • USB-C is creeping into more equipment, how much more power do you get from PD vs just using a usb-a to usbc to charge a device ?

        • @doweyy: ahh thanks mate! guess I can always swap my cables around when I need to charge it

  • +1

Is there an official source that states this has QuickCharge 3.0? I read a review from ChargerLab that states it has QC2.0.

  • -3

Is this really a bargain? There's another ebay supplier selling it for $32.35. Not that much of a different in price compared to this one.

    • +8

Well it's the cheapest for au stock so far and offers a great warranty which you usually wouldn't get elsewhere, the voting system determines if it's a bargain or not.

      • +2

oh right I didnt realize the other one was from OS

  • Can anyone tell me whats the diff between this one and this:
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Xiaomi-Mi-Power-Bank-2-10000mAh-…

    • +5

      Older model
      single usb
      does not support qc 3.0

      • ok, thanks

      • +1

You want qc3.0 even if your phone dont support it yet because sooner or later your next phone may have support for it.

I bought a qc3.0 powerbank. The big brother of this powerbank when my phone was huawei mate 7 which does not support qc3.0 at all. However it was replaced later replaced with lg v20 which supports qc3.0 and it charges fast. 1 hour 15 minutes from flat battery to 100%.

      • Neither does this one, it doesn't state anywhere in the ebay description it is QC3.0.

It is, however, QC2.0 which is a maximum of 18W at 5, 9, or 12V - as this item states. (QC2.0 also had a 20V option but I've yet to see a charger with it.)

QC3.0 is also a maximum of 18W but the voltage can vary between 3.2 -> 20V, the devices negotiate what is required - this item doesn't support it.

        • +1

          @aacheney: If it says 5, 9, or 12V output only there's really no guarantee it is QC3.0 - especially as the one from SS doesn't even output 18W by the looks, (12 x 1.2 = 14.4 , 9 x 1.67 = 15.03).

It would be interesting to see if it did do QC3.0, simple to test, plug it into a known QC3.0 enabled phone and see if it charges faster than a known QC2.0 charger/power bank.

QC3.0 should charge about 12% faster.

My guess is it's a case of sellers not knowing what they've got and just picking specs from somewhere.

        • yep, and USB C has even higher wattages …..

QC is a Qualcomm standard and licensed ($$) or use QC chipset, usb-c is an industry forum standard and cheaper for manufacturers to adopt … so expect to see more USB C.

  • +2

Anyone see any deal on Lightning to USB-C cables?

  • Do these have pass through charging?

    • +2

Just tested with mine - yes. It didn't QC my phone though, even when using a QC charger for the power bank. Charged at a very slow rate regardless (something like 9 hours initially estimated to charge my S8+). Will re-test once the bank is fully charged.

      • +2

Update: power bank fully charged, pass-through charging is slightly faster, but still not QC and estimated ~4 hours for a full charge.

      • +1

If you are charging the power bank it will not QC charge your phone

        • +1

Sorry, was a bit convoluted. Phone won't quickcharge when charging the power bank/when a charger is connected was what I meant to say.

    • Does that mean we can use them as a UPS for the raspberry pi??

  • Thanks OP, good time to use my $10 APP voucher

  • Would this work to charge a Nintendo Switch?

    • +1

It'll charge very slowly. So if you play while this is plugged in, you'll probably keep the battery level constant.

The power bank you need to properly charge up a Switch as if it's from an A/C charger is to find a power bank with Power Delivery. You'll want something like the ZMI 20000mAh which has PD through the USB C up to 40W.

  • What is the best fast (and safe) charger to charge this powerbank?

    • Any good charger will charge it.

If you want to Quick Charge it you will need a QC certified charger.
Tronsmart, Anker and Blitzwolf are good brands that make QC chargers.

  • Can you take these on planes?

    • Yes they are less than 100wh.

  • -1

Sorey to be the bearer of bad news but this hardly a bargain. Has been half this price

    • +1

Sorry but you are referring to the old one. This is the cheapest the older model has been, not half price.

      • +1

My apologies, does this one support fast charge ?

        • It supports Quick Charge.

  • If anyone misses out/ wants one cheaper/ wants one in silver, BangGood regularly offers Xiaomi power banks at below this price. Currently they've got the same one for $28 with a very generous 8% store cashback, making it around $3 cheaper than the eBay one.

*It is chinese stock so will take longer to ship, but I've always had really positive experience with the company so you shouldn't have any problems

    • +2

The problem is not banggood as such. Its in general. These powerbanks never arrive because they get stopped by customs.

Have been happening of late so people are weary buying powerbanks from china.

      • Fair enough, wasn't actually aware of that so thanks for letting me know!

      • I assume you mean Australian Border Force?

What excuse are they giving on the letter they send?

        • customs stopping powerbanks is an urban myth …..

what, you reckon it arrives in australia, customs looks at it and send it back ……lol.

issue is shipping and slow delivery, bigger power banks are supposed to come by sea, with air there was the worry of lithium’s igniting …. it’s why they have rules on the size of powerbanks you can take on a plane.

all started with hoverboard lithium batteries igniting on planes and igniting in homes and burning them down.

so now just small lithium’s on planes, or you need a seller to down grade what they declare on their paperwork eg ship 20,000. mah but write 10,000 on the paperwork.

people into RC models have dealt with batteries and transport and battery sizes for years ….. places like hobby king auto limit number of batteries and sizes they ship via air in their portal.

  • +1

Great deal! Just got my $25 CTP refund, so this only cost me 3 bucks, soo good ahah

  • I currently own the thick 10,400 xiaomi power bank, using Samsung S7. Will there be any noticeable difference if I was to get this?

  • +1

    https://www.mi.com/newbattery2/

The official website does not specify QC 3.0. They mentioned 18w though, weird

    • +1

The site says it's 18W for input, ie. you can use QC 2.0+ chargers to charge it.

They're saying the total output power is 15W, next section says:

Supports a variety of fast charging protocols Faster charging for mobile phones New millet mobile power sources that can quickly charge devices (2) (10000mAh) supports a variety of fast charging protocols for single-port output with power up to 14.4W. When two ports are output at the same time, each interface can reach 5V2.4A output power and the total power can reach 15W.

Doesn't specifically say it has QC output but if it does I'm willing to bet it's only QC2.0 as shown in the review linked by ShaunL above.

Honestly don't know why people think it's QC3.0.

  • Does anyone with this find that after a few days, the power bank would charge to 2 out of 4 lights no matter how long it is charging for?

Did I just get a dud product?

    • Quite possible.

Start with checking if you got a legit xiaomi. So many fakes out there.

    • It takes a bloody long time….thought I had issues too but it eventually went to 4 lights….lol

  • I have this power bank and it charges my Note 8 as QC or fast charging as Samsung refers to it on the phone…about 1hr 20min from empty to 100%. But takes a long time to charge the powerbank with a normal charger.

  • I've got some of these:
    https://www.amazon.com/Anker-10000mAh-Portable-Generation-Te…
They've taken a lot of abuse from me and are still working well.

How does this Xiaomi compare? How much abuse can it take?

    • right up until it needs a restraining order

      • +2

Right, well my Anker lets me plug charge out into the charge in, to charge it's self, without complaining.

        • Hrmmm what ? lol

        • +1

          Whoa, perpetual energy …

        • +3

@PAOK11: yeah, works pretty well, but I feel like I'm abusing the poor thing making it eat it's own power lol

  • why am i seeing micro usb port in 2018……all my device are type c now…come on

  • Due to the recent restrictions on imports of power banks

    Can you elaborate?

    • It has become much harder to import power banks now from Chinese suppliers, gearbest and many other companies have just given up and have stopped shipping them.

It's because customs took a firm stance and started sending heaps of them back so I'm guessing they just gave up.

I'm guessing gearbite were able to get a release from this to bring power banks in to sell within Australia rather than just shipping direct from china to the buyer.

      • How did Gearbite get it in the first place? I presume it's not actual AU stock but just CN/HK stock they imported themselves?

        • Yes that's correct, I'm not in the industry so I don't know the specifics though.

As I said, gearbite most likely have an agreement with customs to disclose what is coming into the country before it gets here and that they're considered safe, or something along those lines.

  • Can this charge the Nintendo Switch?

  • does anyone know how to reset these? mine keeps blinking from one light to the next light in a loop and it only stops charging at 2 lights

    • Try to charge with more powerful adapter :)

  • I think this is the same one as the most recent shopping square deal. So is that one geniune compare to this?

    • This one is genuine. I got one and checked it on xiaomi website.
