    Something something sense of achievement

    • +3

Not just a sense of achievement, but a sense of achievewoment and a sense of achievechildrent too.

    • +1

It's patched now and all heroes available to be played and microtransactions are cosmetic only.

      • +1

The damage is already done. Too little, too late.

  • +4

Would not buy if it was $2.90.

    • +4

      I would.

  • +3

LOL don't buy this shit. Disappointed so many star wars and non star wars fans with built in micro-transactions that can't be removed no matter how much they try.

My pride and sense of accomplishment would be EA reluctantly giving away the franchise to an actual dev group who will work hard at producing a good game.

    • +2

Micro-Transactions are now limited to cosmetic gear only, and have nothing to do with progression. Pretty sure this is the same as Overwatch and most other modern games.

      • +1

LOL that's not how EA works. They had to drop this price down because no one plays it anymore. There is still a bit of micro-transaction activated gameplay here and there even if you play this game.

Plus it's not worth it anyways. Story is mediocre, gameplay is mediocre, might as well play the OG Battlefront games from the early 2000s.

        • If you insist.

For everyone else interested/considering buying this game or who has children who are pushing them to buy it: Whilst I wouldn't encourage anyone to rush out and buy it, it is a far better purchase as the game stands today than when it was released, and the price difference is huge. EA has said that going forward nothing considered "progression" will be locked behind a micro-transaction paywall. Cosmetics are the only thing which will come from chance crates/micro-transactions, and whilst it's possible some Heroes will require unlocking in the future, they will be done via game earned currency if not directly earned via participating in in-game events as past ones have been (Finn and Phasma). EA has made this clear, and I doubt Disney will let them back down from it now.

The online scene is still active on Xbox, I have no issues finding games on the weekends at any time and weeknights are solid as well. Unsure about weekdays during work hours, but I have found games on the odd day or two when not at work but it can take longer.

The Campaign is, predictable, but so are most Star Wars movies/books/games/shows, so that's not really a surprise. Progression via online game play is actually fairly fluid now, and no where near as Grind-PTSD educing as it originally was. In most cases, late comers to the game won't be impacted in being "behind" in unlocks.

It's a good game, but nothing to rave about. Research before purchase is a must for all OzBarginers, so do your homework to workout if it's the right fit for you/the kids. Hopefully in the future another game studio starts working on Star Wars games, but for today, we have EA, and as it goes, Battlefront 2 is reasonably entertaining for the cost of two movie tickets, and will probably last you at least twice as long.

I came here for the comments. Was not disappointed.

  • why would there be a $5.99 charge for a PC digital download key?

    • This is a physical copy

    • Because they send you the card with the download code on it, annoying I know.

      • There's no download code with a disc copy release unless it's for DLC. And this is the physical disc release.

        • Are you sure? When you look at the picture for the PC version it clearly states that there is no disc included on the cover.

        • @Daniel6092:

That's the PC Origin version which is a digital download. This is the PS4 or Xbox One which is a physical copy version. It says no where on either pages that it's a digital download.

        • @hollykryten

I am not talking about the PS4 or Xbone versions. I am referring to the PC version only which has a postage cost despite there being no physical disc, replying to what @CarnivalMonkey said.

    • Because this is a physical disc copy.

Sorry - too little too late. The damage has been and the game is in the dumps. Gamers don't forget the bitter taste left by EA. EA has probably already abandoned the game as well judging by the lack of updates, and moved on to the next Star Wars game. Servers probably empty as well.

  • +1

Curious to give it a go one day but I feel I'd be betraying the gaming community by buying this. The only reason many games since its release haven't been infested with pay to win mechanics is because of the collective reaction by conscientious gamers.

Sorry EA but that's one lesson that doesn't get fixed with a patch.

Don't reward this shitstain of a company and their lack of ethics. They are systematically destroying the video game industry, not to mention all the formerly excellent developers they've bought out and subsequently driven into the ground.
