Does anyone here own any islands close by?are they worth doing for property investment? Seems hard to purchase, I’m guessing they sell just like normal properly but for a little extra more.

Most islands near to Australia can't be "bought" they are leasehold.
In the greater Brisbane Broadwater area, (Gold Coast to Brisbane), there is only one freehold island and that is "Tabby Tabby Island" - Owned by a Cousin of mine for a while - it sold in 2008 for $4M. It hgas a house, Several Sheds, a Jetty and runs about 40 head of cattle.

Issue is infrastructure. Everything is going to cost big $.
Its good idea to own a barge.
