  • Explain this for me? (Seconds)

    Pre-owned?

    • my guess is that like Seconds World, it could be carton damage, unopened reutrned stock?, or a minor ding in the unit etc etc

    • I got 55" from same store, only remote was bit scratched but TV was brand new. So i think these TV might have some defect or customer return or carton damage kind of issues.

    • -2

      second [ˈsɛk(ə)nd]
      2. subordinate or inferior in position, rank, or importance.
"Malcolm is dropping down to captain the second team"

The title of the auction is basically "Smart TV (worse)".

The equivalent overseas model number for this unit is the x720E - review on rtings.com - https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/sony/x720e

  • This is not an Android TV, is it? Anyone knows?

    • +1

      No it is not.

    • -2

Why couldn't you have just Googled the model number?

      • +2

        Driving, probably.

      • +1

        Can’t hurt to ask

      • I did. It wasn't clear if it was, so it probably isn't. If you scroll down it says it's running it's running the Opera browser, and you can install Opera apps, so it's maybe running some form of Linux on there.

  • Any good as a monitor? chroma wise

nvm got details in the review above.

Great TV to use as a monitor. It supports important resolutions such as 4k@60hz with 4:4:4 for smooth text. Combined with its low input lag, low motion blur, and wide viewing angle, it makes for a PC monitor that would suit almost every uses. It's only missing support for a 120hz refresh rate for competitive gaming.

    • Are there TVs or 4K TVs that support 120hz input?

      • +1

Some TVs support 1080p at a native 120Hz, however this isn't one of them.

The new Kogan 58in tv just released today does!
        Kogan

Also it has android tv and Google Assistant. Interested to know how will this tv fare as I'm looking for one for my Home theatre room.

        • That Kogan model, which is not actually released but available for pre-order for 24 May, has the following claimed specs which does not state 120 hz input.

          Computer Supported Resolutions
          640 x 480 @ 60Hz,
          800 x 600 @ 60Hz,
          1024 x 768 @ 60Hz,
          1360 x 768 @ 60Hz,
          1920 x 1080 @ 60Hz,
          3840 x 2160@ 60Hz

I think the reference to 120hz is to do with"smooth motion" etc.

For reference, the 12 month warranty for this product is the same as what you'd get with a brand new TV from Sony so in this case I see no reason to not go refurbished. See Sony Warranty Info

  • Sounds like a great price.

  • I picked up this TV for $1k 2 months ago. No complaints for a relatively cheap / cheerful TV.
Would of been even better at $600…

  • stay away from sony seconds, especially from eBay !!!!

    • stay away from sony seconds, especially from eBay !!!!

This makes no sense at all. You can often buy Sony seconds cheaper on eBay as well so your statement is utterly absurd. Many Sony seconds are brand new and Sony will resolve any problems with seconds.

Do you think that buying the same Sony seconds at a higher price is smarter?

Stay away from beyondhd's advice, especially on OzBargain!!!!!

    • why?

  • I got a sony refurb from Ebay couple weeks ago
Issue with the wifi so they are sending round a tech to fix it
    Can’t complain with that service

  • I got my TV from Sony Seconds store last wek, no issue with the TV it is brand new just small scratch on the remote.

    • My remote is in terrible condition. I actually use my phone more than my remote to control my TV. I need IR blasters on my phone these days.

  • Got a X7000D from the Sony Seconds store for $680ish a month or so ago, can't fault it. Seemed new except the remote already had batteries in it and they gave me more batteries? Not sure. Got the older 'D' model too which is the same as the newer one except has Android instead of Linux :)

  • Got mine today, with a stand for a smaller size TV… off to the Sony kiosk I go tomorrow.
