This is not a bargain, you can find cheaper on ebay.

      The retail pack, delivered?

      • -5

Which includes what? A bigger box?

It's the same thing, cheaper and yes, delivered.

        • OEM vs Retail support, and you don't have to download the program (or use potentially dodgy ebay sellers)

there are better AV than norton that are free :)

    • -2

I have tried free ones, dont like them, AVG in particular was very poor, let 5 viruses in on my computer- always used norton since and have not had one single virus .

I got my Kaspersky keys from http://pcprosales.com.au/ [2 actually, 1 off their ebay listing, one privately]
Working fine so far, at $19, Kaspersky>Norton by far.

        • 2010 Kaspersky OEM from Eddy.

Not sure if you would need to pair it with other stuff or not.

  • norton - such a massive resource hog. Slows down computers. Avoid

    • -1

I have no problem with norton slowing down computer, does not affect it, are you still on dial up
besides even if it did, I would rather have a slow safe computer than a fast insufficiently protected one

    • Half a decade ago, yes. It has improved in the last three years, and it's not something I'd 'avoid like the plague' anymore.

      • +2

Mmm, the last few versions have been MUCH lighter on resources. They even added features to show CPU usage and how much of that is actually Norton's, so it screams to you 'Look, it isn't me anymore! Only the rest of your computer sucks!'

Considering availability of free consumer anti-virus software: AVG, Avast, Avira, MSE who'd pay to get this?
I'd only install Norton it if was paying me to do it.

    • -3

As I said above, AVG is no good, used it updated daily and it still let in 5 viruses, norotn has never let in a virus. That is reason enough for me to continue using it.

My opinion is use Norton Internet Security's firewall as it can stop pretty much anything from the web (Depending on what settings you are using).

Norton Anti Virus is not the best but not bad either. If you want a clean computer, my recommendation is to install another anti virus and use it for virus scanning and disable it when not needed.

BIGW is also selling the Norton Internet Security 2011 3 User for about $68 and gives you a bonus diary.

I would just get the NIS since it comes with NAV. Been using NIS for 4 Years though its the older versions.

      • One would need to look at circumstances of how a virus got through, so you don't compare apples and oranges..
Virus bulletin compares it like apples and apples and most known antivirus are in same league as Norton or better.

Common sense = still the best antivirus by far.

And learn to use Sandboxie! Prevention is better than cure.

  • You can get OEM versions of antivirus software (including Norton) from certain bigger computer stores for about $25. These versions are legit, they are just technically only supposed to be sold with new computers.

Last week I bought Trend antivirus for $25 and it includes 3 licences. The person serving me didn't even bat an eyelid when I asked for it. Norton I think was slightly cheaper.
