I just changed all 4 tyres at Bob Jane T Mart, 205/55/16- Bridgestone Ecopia EP300, paid $387, works out to be $96.75 per tyre. $75 for all 4 wheels alignment (I didn't alignment done at Granville Bob Jane as their alignment machine is down, Ryde Bob Jane have 3 in-stock as today, Castle Hill Bob Jane have 8 in stock as today but need an appointment for Sat work)

Called up Kmart Tyre to price match, they are able to do $367 for all 4 tyres, works out to be $91.75 per tyre. $65 for all 4 wheels alignment.

Kmart works out cheaper plus collect flybuy points, but the downside is that Parramatta branch doesn't have Bridgestone EP300 in stock and needa wait for 2 days.

My local Bob Jane ran out of EP300s and offered Pirelli P6s for the same price. They seem to do well in the wet, compared with EP100s that I have on my Audi.

    • +5

that I have on my Audi.

Will they be good for my Maserati though?

      • Maybe. Depends where you put them.

      • You have a Maserati JV? I thought you drove a BMW.

        • +4

          That and a Lancia Stratos.

  • How do I find out what are the best tyres for my car? I want to give Bob Jane a try.

Go outside, write down the numbers along your tyres. Search on the bobjane website. Bob's your uncle!

        Bob's your uncle!

        Mine too!

        • +1

          No way!

          Last name Builder?

        • @smuggler:
          Simpson

      • Unless you want to do a tonne of research to select a tyre I suggest you can either get the OEM specified tyre or go with Continental. They are consistently good whereas even premium brands can sometimes be hit and miss. They only cost a little more than cheapy tyres, and they often have buy 3 get the fourth offer.

        • I ended up getting 4 Bridgestone Ecopia (1 for free) and paying $827 including alignment and inflammation.

    • Best for what?
Best tyre would be the one with the most grip right? A track tyre, wears out quick though.

Tyres are a compromise between grip - longevity - noise.

Rhetorical q anyway. Just get the one the manufacturer supplied - it's going to be a good balance of every category.

  • Costco has 4 for 3 bridgestone too.
    No alignment,

    • Alignment costs around $70, so take that into consideration.

      • Got mine discounted to $55

        • :/ You guy know you can take one Bob Jane price to another bob Jane right? Normal haggle is 20% off alignment on the spot cos they give you a book for it when you change your tyres. Just say you lost it or something.

  • That sounds really cheap. I got pirelli from them on my xr6 for 800$. Wonder if I got ripped off.

  • To my understanding, this has always been the deal.

  • Bob Jane is a pioneer. Really, to offer a deal like this when no else has done it it's pure genius.

    • Normally it's smoke and mirrors and you end up paying the same price you would have anyway.

I've noticed that when Bob Jane do it that it is a genuine offer.

  • Looked up michellin tyres. Only offer $100 cash back ?
Any good run flats deals ?

    • +1

Depending on what car you drive, I'd get rid of the runflats altogether. With a normal tyre, you'll find performance is much much better in both wet and dry, they will be quieter, and more comfortable. The reality with runflats is that in a lot of cases they can't be repaired anyway.

      • i think you might be right, it was raining pretty heavy today, and i could felt the back tyres gave a little bit when i was taking a corner. What would you recommend ? Michellin PSS ?
        i drive a 228i

        • I was going to ask if it was a BMW. My dad used to have an M135 with PSS's on it and traction was always great unless provoked ;). They are probably your best bet. I've heard good things about Bridgestone RE003 also. I'm currently running Pirelli P-Zero on my Golf R, and I'm not a fan. Grip is just OK and they are loud. I should have sprung for the Michelin's.

        • @ebosh: so michellin PSS it is then. i wonder if they do promos on those

      • If you get rid of run flats, be sure to chuck a spare tyre in the boot or wherever. Or be prepared to pay for a piggy back….

The Bridgestone deal is not a Bob Jane specific deal. It's available at all authorised retailers.

Shop around for the best price!

I usually get my tyres from Donellans and find that they have great service and prices.

  • +1

Just bought a set of BFG K02’s at Bob’s (285/65/18) great price and great service
Price on par with eBay prices but included fitting and alignment - $392each

    • Even with the current 10% off? :D :D :D

      • I’m regional WA so freight is a killer on any online tyre shop . Bob’s Joondalup WA didn’t have stock when I walked in off the street but took my number and had the tyres in store ready to fit in 60min.
Best face to face service iv experienced in ages.

        • I do also prefer my local Bob Jane because of quality of service.

Freight is astounding. Perhaps when drone deliveries are a thing…

  • Same deal running with Dunlop Goodyear tyres. Proof of this is advertised on their website. Can buy through any tyre place of course.

I can personally recommend these tyres https://www.kumho.com.au/tyres/passenger/ecsta-ku22/

Never had better tyres than these. Pirelli P7's and Dragonsports are right up there, but still not as good as these Kuhmo's IMHO.

I bought through K-Mart as they beat even the quoted 'best price guaranteed' from the online retailer you'll come across with google, even supercheap etc … and ability to get Flybuys points with the purchase.

  • +1

Bob doesnt share any prices for their tyres on their website. I hate anybody who says give us a call for pricing bullshit.

    • +1

Cos franchise… They all price diff. City needs to pay more rent than Woop woop

  • Can't find price info on 245/65 R17

Buy 3 get 1 FREE offers are everywhere. Much like 20% on eBay for selected retailers.. How is this a bargain?

  • +1

How is this better than Tyresales.com.au which seem to have similar prices + free fitting/alignment?

    • Kmart will handily beat them without much issue. Alignment is not free, neither is fitting and balancing.

    • @zooter I did check the price at tyresales.com.au, they are offer similar price + some fitment centers offers free alignment + free car wash too :) But I am not sure if the fitment centers charge labour cost for fitting the tyres.

      • If you search for a fitment center on tyresales, here is the text:

        ========================
Tyresales.com.au makes buying tyres easy. Your tyre purchase includes fitting and balancing at one of our fitment centres, choose from over 1,750 fitment locations Australia-wide.

We also offer a Free Wheel Alignment for 4 or more tyre purchases, or a Free Car Clean for 2 or more tyre purchases at participating Premium Fitment Centres.

so I think fitting is free…and you get alignment as well for 4 or more tyres..

  • Nice..
Do we know how long is the deal for?

  • I still have 3mm on my tyres. Should I be buying tyres now or wait for later? I run about 25km per day

  • Doesn't apply to run flat tyres
