I'm looking at getting invisalign, can anyone give me some insight as to how much they paid and how long they wore them?
I've been quoted $7000 and I dont even think my teeth are excessively crooked.

I am only half year in with my private insurance and Orthodontics has one year of waiting period. Do you think at the end of the full year wait I'll be able to claim anything even if I start having treatment now?
You can only claim events or activity payments once you are past your waiting period unfortunately.
Eg. U joined 01/2017. Waiting period ends 01/2018. Only payments after 01/2018 you can claim.
What health fund offers most of this back? I looked at all of them before my son got braces and all had annual and lifetime limits, so I would be very keen to hear.
Super extras ahm was the most cost effective. Lifetime limit is 2900. There were others that are better but the premium didn't outweigh the benefits.
I'm also interested in what extras plan you're on - I had the best extras cover from AHM which has a $900 lifetime limit; most other providers were roughly the same
My invisalign course was $8000 and was meant to take 14 months, ended up having 3 sets of adjustments for a total of 34 months.
Regular braces would've cost around $5000 and taken 12 months, likely with no adjustments. My teeth didn't seem too bad either but you could see the crowding on the x-rays.Also, you end up have retainers for life. Once the course is finised, you wear a retainer every night (or atleast once a week) for the rest of your life - something they will always forget to tell you.
My teeth didn't seem too bad either
Well, it's not like the person explaining that you have "crowded" teeth stood to gain thousands of dollars by treating you, right.
Right?
I dunno, the X-rays were pretty convincing
I mean I must’ve been in the market seeing as I went in there and paid for a consultation with the expectation that I would need braces, but sure, the orthodontist tricked me into getting them
Think of the long term, that's what I did. At least you won't have issues in the future that can relate to having crowded teeth.
How long is going to be different for everyone as is dependent on how bad your teeth are up begin with. I am currently on 14/22 so my treatment is less than a year.
For these to work properly, you need to be very diligent with keeping them in your mouth as much as possible. This usually means carrying around toothpaste/toothbrush with you when you go out, and to work so you can clean your teeth and put the aligners back in soon after you've eaten (instead of waiting until you're home to do it).
If you don't think you can be bothered with all that maintenance, fixed braces would be the way to go. You can get the ones that affix to the inside of your teeth, to avoid that teenage train tracks look.
It is a very key point have to remember. You must brush and floss every time u eat.
Breakfast Lunch and dinner is essentially for me the following
Aligners out
Eat
Brush floss mouthwash
Aligners in.For me usually all done within 25-35 minutes.
You must remember the optimum recommended is 22 hours wear time per day.
On average I have tracked 22.5 hours per day.I am wondering how much you are paying for your treatment? I'm wondering if there is major difference between someone who needs little adjustment vs major adjustments
Sorry to deviate from the topic, but you just reminded me of this Invisalign before-and-after picture.
I know almost nothing about Invisalign except I keep getting offered Groupon deals (https://www.groupon.com.au/coupons/sydney/invisalign). You'll still need to add about $500 in each case for the reatiners. I assume you were offered Invisalign full (rather than lite or i7)? In which case, apparently you're paying the lower end of "full" costs.
I think my wife paid $6000 for it 6-7 years ago.
She's very happy with the outcome, teeth were in pretty bad shape beforehand.Has anyone had issues with thinning teeth, cracked or broken teeth after invisalign?
Been reading reviews and some people commented about these issues.I paid $6000, minus private health but you really need to adhere to the schedule. I wasn’t very good at sticking to the schedule so I ended up pausing treatment and resuming using the accelerator but that cost $1000. The accelerator helped complete treatment but my advice would be make sure you stick to the schedule to get your money’s worth
I'm currently on Invisalign. I'm on aligner 31/56. My expected treatment time was between 18-24 months.
My total cost that was offered to me was $7850. Still paying weekly installments 0% interest across 3 years.
I was told I had Upper 'severe' crowding, lower 'medium' crowding. Upper overjet.
The specialist I chose was essentially from google research. He seemed to take care of multiple clinics and therefore he would have the most experience.
You can get most of the money back by choosing an appropriate private health insurance.
I chose super extras ahm because i had some teeth removed to create space for the crowded teeth and general dental was unlimited allowance and orthodontics would rebate me the most significant. Other extras like glasses, massages etc I worked out would be essentially free.
Happy to answer anymore questions just PM me if it gets into deeper content. I'm not a professional but I can offer you my opinions.
