    Is it 100% Australian honey?

    • +7

      I don't think the bees are nationalistic.

      • Don't know many that migrate overseas during the winter.

        • +1

          Our bees get exported to North America to replenish numbers lost due to weather and pests!

          In fact many bees (like 50% of the hive) are intentionally killed by their keepers at winter to prevent the bees consuming their own honey - which is exactly why they make it for themselves in summer.

          But hey, stealing their labours and food supply is felt by most people to be a human entitlement, so killing them en masse doesn't tick the moral outrage much either.

        • @thevofa: someone close to the bee community should sue them…..

        • +4

          @thevofa:

          And yet they just keep making it!!

          A fool and their honey are soon parted.

          @Scrooge McDuck: It's not as if they have anything better to do.

          @PJC:

          AFAIK they can't brush their teeth anyway, so we're doing them a favour.

      Harris farm is one of the few that sell 100% australian honey, they are also on the https://www.beethecure.com.au/honey-map/

        We need more Chinese honey up in this bitch!

        • +4

          That's not what's meant by yellow box honey.

    • Central West NSW, but I wish I could see the entire label.

      • +1

        The right side of the label says "Grant Lockwood keeps his bees in stands of yellow box gum trees, around Lucknow in the Central West of NSW. The natural honeycomb is gently warmed to extract honey with a smooth and buttery finish".

          Yes, I read that. But I don't think all the label is visible to us. I'm just a bit sceptical. This product's label says at the front "Australian peanuts" but the back says if Australian peanuts are in short supply they use Argentinian.

          @PJC:
          The label only covers half the tub. If you zoom in on the picture you can almost see the entire label (except you can't read the edges due to the curvature). There's no label at the back.

          @1bug: Yes, it does seem to be 100% Australian honey. I'll look out for it, the price is fair.

      Hi there, I’m in a industry and know beekeepers in NSW had a very good YB honey season (usually it comes once in 3-5 years).
      So, it’s probably the reason.

  • Do new customers get $15 cash back on their first order? If so, its an awesome deal! Can anyone confirm?

  • Bah, outside delivery area.

    Thanks for posting OP.

  • How is this compare to the more expensive Manuka honey from New Zealand?

    • +1

      Bees make this.

      • More importantly Australian bees using Australian trees.

  • thanks OP! have been looking some good local honey rather than the crap they sell at colesworth

  • Recently saw in a documentary that the production of honey is decreasing worldwide but interestingly the price still remains the same and sometimes less like this one. Don't know what to make of it.

    • Coz the cheaper stuff supplies the excess demand. That is cut with corn syrup.

    We do not use any artificial colours, flavourings or preservatives.

    ^ this could mean to say, "we use natural colours, flavourings and preservatives"

    ( which could also mean added sugar (which is a natural product itself )

  • They are not raw honey.

  • Thx,bought 10

    • how many left?

  • honey is animal cruelty. I await the day the bees grow aware and build giant robots to attack their oppressors.

    • animal insect

      I see a lot of human oppressors. Now just to find a way to build that robot.

    Note that their online specials are not necessarily in-store. I've had to ask the online chat person a few times before venturing out to their store which isn't very close. They've told me that the price for my closest store (Boronia Park, NSW) for this honey is $13.69.

    Store-specific specials are listed here.

    • Good information.

    • That may be true for some stores, but I noticed the deal in store at Pennant Hills on 21 March even though it wasn't listed in the store-specific specials for that week. When I checked online, it was also listed there.

      The deal was still available in my local store on 26 March.
