RazorPit Blade Sharpener $19.95 + $9.95 Shipping (Or Free Pick Up in Store) @ Shaver Shop

SHAVE10

Just a seemingly simple product made from rubber. I was skeptical at the start but it has saved me hundreds of unnecessary dollars spent on getting replacement blades for my Schick razors. This is an apt deal to couple to the Coles Schick deal this week. Get a decent razor (I recommend getting the 5 blade range) and you'll be using the same razor for many months! Trialed and tested.

This is the European advert for anyone interested

Decent score on Product Reviews too

Yep. But it does ruin jeans in the process. If you're throwing out a pair of jeans then keep one leg for sharpening razor blades.

      • +1

It doesn't ruin jeans because you run the blade the other way. Just like when you sharpen a knife on a whetstone. I used to use jeans before getting my razor pit. Jeans are probably slightly better but much less convenient. I can definitely vouch for the razor pit. It's saved me hundreds in the last 6-7 years that I've owned one as I only change blades every 3 months (3 shaves per week)

        • I've ruined a few pairs of jeans doing it but admittedly they are cheap jeans with cheap material. It doesn't take much off but it takes a bit of the material and if they're thin jeans then you get a bit of discolouration over time.

        • @GunnerMcDagget:
just wait until you have a worn out pair of jeans that you're going to throw away.
There's going to be parts not worn out eg. shin / calf area and cut some strips and use those.

    • I've tried this and it did absolutely nothing for me. Other swear by it, so i must be doing something wrong.

    I buy a box of 100 Astra blades for … 14 bucks?

let's say you use one blade a week that's 14 dollars for two years of shaving straight up

    • +2

yep, DE blades are much cheaper than cartridges, they don't clog up

    • +2

Yep, I'm right for the next few years. Working at home means I only shave when I have to go to a meeting, or my wife complains :)

    • +2

      Where do you buy them?

    • +2

I usually get the feather blades as I prefer them but they're still only $39 for 100.

      • +1

        +1 for feather!

  • How is this a bargain? I was instore during the new year and it was also this price….

they told me i needed to buy some oil for sharpening too so i passed because it would cost nearly $30 to get started

    • +1

I just use shaving cream to sharpen

  • +6

I place my razors inside a small paper pyramid overnight. Keeps them very sharp. Haven't bought any gilette sensor cartridges since 2002.

      Isn't science wonderful.

      Wut?

      • +2

I built one of these and whenever I put my hand in to remove the razor my fingernails would grow over three inches long almost instantly. I am now building a second one for my fingernail clippers….

  • I can absoloutely vouch for using vibrating handles. They are NOT a gimmick.

I have super sensitive skin and the difference in shaving pain is 1/3 or less when shaving. You can use a blade substantially longer with a vibrating handle.

I imported them from Korea, they didn't sell the Mach 3 power handles anymore.

Also, I heard that doing what this post is saying, but with a leather belt works. I never tried it enough, maybe it's worth trying, can anyone else vouch?

    • Yes I vouch

    • +1

      lether belt = strop

    • Link to vibrating handles please? I do not know what you are referring to.

      • +1

Also sending you everything I know about rubbing up against rubber things and the proper use of a leather strop

      • +1

Just Google mach 3 power turbo. They have vibrating motors in them.

    • -3

      They are a gimmick.

      • Re read my post, try to understand next time.

    • Research on it is thin but based on minimal research it seems like they haven't found any benefit using the vibrating razors. In fact a court forced Gillette to change the advertising of their vibrating razor claims as they couldn't prove that it did anything they claimed. They couldn't even prove it was any more effective than using an non-vibrating razor.

But in the end it comes down to what works for you. Try it and if it works then stick with it. Personally I prefer the double edged razors. More cost effective.

      • It simply hurts less, the pain / grind feeling is almost entirely diminished with the vibrating feeling. With sensitive skin it's night and day.

I literally won't shave with a normal razor anymore, they're awful.

I get LITERALLY 4x the use of out razors thanks to vibrating blades. I'm convinced this is why the Mach 3 Power mysteriously isn't around anymore.

Be careful of the shavershop. I bought one of these a few weeks ago and it had obviously been used before. It even had scratch marks on it where someone had obviously tried to use a razor on it backwards. They shouldn't try and sell second hand items as new.

  • This is just rubber over a mould.
A flat piece of rubber would work just as well.
Bought one a while back and it sits in cupboard while I linish a mach 3 turbo using my towel.

  • +4

I threw mine out years ago. They're a gimmick as far as I'm concerned.

  • +1

Just run your razorblade up your arm or any other parts of your body. Does the same thing.

    • +8

Instructions not clear, now I have a big hairless patch on my arm.

      • funny thing.. I do this trick and the other week my wife put the blade back on the handle backwards (must have fallen onto the floor in the shower or something and came off)

        So.. yeah, that happened…

  • +3

How do you pick up in store/click and collect?

Or, how do you use the coupon in store?

    • Yeah, I don't see any way to click and collect.

  • +3

I bought one of these from Target a couple of years ago for $5. I actually still use mine. I wouldn't call it a sharpener but a cleaner. Wipes the crud off your blades so it feels like it's sharper. Probably gives an extra week of use before I'm screaming for a new blade. That said, I get the best part of a month from a blade. It's easily paid for itself, so I'd recommend it.

  • +1

If you're worried about cost why are you using disposable razors?

  • +2

Guess I'm lucky. I use two blades a year max, doing my whole head every two weeks. And no shaving cream, just water. Actually I find old blades better, less likely to cut myself

Don't recommend the 5 blade. The mach 3 is the best, it clogs up less therefore the blades stay straight and you don't take chunks out of your skull

However there's plenty of blades i haven't tried. I know i really didn't like the Azor

  • these are pretty much useless and most certainly not a bargain

    • have you tried them much?

  • How do you choose click and collect?
Either I'm blind, or I can only see the option for standard shipping?

  • The sales guy tried to sell me one of these for $20 when I last stocked up on razors.

He said it sharpens the blades makes them last 4x longer…I said mate its made of plastic/rubber, it's not sharpening anything is it…pass.

How is it any different from drying and cleaning off the blades with your towel after use?

  • I cant un-select shipping, will go to the store tomorrow I think. Enough good reviews I can see.

  • I shaved during shower and I sharpened my blade along my thigh and forearm with body soap. Have not changed my blade for 12m.

    • Yep, I do the same. Generally get about 6 months from a blade.

  • The RazorPit has saved me $$$ in replaceable blades. Have gotten about 450 shaves using the same blade (Schick Hydro 5).

  • You can also use your arm to do this, if you don't want to use jeans or buy this.

  • I use this as well- used to do the skin trick but this works better must use shave cream or gel on surface saves heaps Mach 3 turbo blades

It's cheaper to do this. Same effect.
