I'm looking for a good all-round jacket for hiking. Had a look and the prices still seem excessive. Kathmandu probably not the best way to go.

I really wish Kathmandu and Anaconda et al, could just advertise real prices with the occasional sale, instead of this madness where RRP is the cost of a mortgage deposit, and sales have widely varying degrees of actual savings to be had.
I suggest changing expectations and assume you don't buy at K. and other brands until it's -95%.
Not saying that all the brands deserve that assumption.

With kathmandu, you have to wait till it is at least 80% off before you can consider it a sale. Don't get sucked in by the 50% off label.
I'll take a look when it's additional 50% off 50%.
Kathmandu is like Bonds. Inflated RRP with very regular 40%+ sales. I guess some people must be buying at full price.

I don't know what Kathmandu does, but a lot of duck down jackets use feathers that are pulled off living ducks. That way they can "harvest" from each duck multiple times.
