How to Expand Phone Storage?

Hi guys

Looking for some advice on how to increase the size of storage on my old Samsung Galaxy S5 phone. It currently has a 16GB sd card installed but I haven't been able to download or update apps in a while because both the phone and card storage are reaching capacity.

Can anyone tell me if it's possible to replace with a larger sd card, and if so, which card should I get and how to transfer the apps, photos etc to the new card to use with the phone?

Not tech savvy so would appreciate some guidance.

Thanks!

    Googles "Samsung s5 SD size"

Just get a bigger micro sd card, S5 supports up to 256GB. Turn the phone off remove the old sd card and copy the contents to the new card.

    • Thanks, does the card have to be from Samsung or can I get one from any brand?

Any decent brand will do, I usually use Sandisk on my Android phones.

    Dude, really?

    • Mate. I can audit companies, provide advice on transfer pricing and do your taxes.

Everyone sucks at something, and for me that's hands on tech stuff

Sounds like you will have to buy a new larger SD card, unmount old card, mount the new card, move as much onto that card as possible, unmount new card, mount the old card back, move as much to phone as possible, unmount old card, mount the new card, move to SD card. Rinse and repeat until you have everything transferred.

Like moving house though, try and chuck (delete) crap you don't need first (if you haven't already).

Unless you have a PC to back up everything and then transfer to the new SD card in one go.

  • Sd card clone software. Just an example:
