RRP $279.98 (sure)
Yes it is often this price ($99.98)so don't buy it if it is more than this.
Not as warm as the Macpac Halo but you will look less like a Michelin man (I have Halo but my wife prefers Heli)
Personally i think this is better than Uniqlo for the same price (1/2 my wardrobe is Uniqlo)
Heli Light Weight Down Jacket $99.98 @ Kathmandu (Summit Club Members) [C&C or Plus Delivery, Delivery Free > $100]

Is Macpac better than KM? Their logos are so similar, as if they were subsidiaries or one ripped off the other. Even their web sites are very similar like they're both made by the same guy.
Summitclub is free for seniors btw, and on your welcome pack you get $10 voucher, effectively making it free for everyone, and $10 profit for seniors.
I was thinking of making a post myself based on the current sale and including more of the range. Might do it but I'm tired.
Maybe add this to your post instead. There are some decent savings to be had, though like you said, if ever there was proof of inflated RRPs, this is it. If they aren't losing money selling a $280 item for $100, then their margins are massive.
Back in day macpac was da bomb, made out of a garage in nz - best quality stuff around. Got big and got sold out to kathmandu. Niw just another average quality, heavily marketed outdokr company. Now all chinese made like kathmandu. Probably made in same factories!
The history is a bit more detailed than that
Down jackets are a pain to wash. How are you doing it?
A washing machine makes it pretty easy. You can use a tech-wash if you really care about it, maybe with a proofer. Your local outdoors store should have them but it's like $30. Grangers and Nikwax are the big brands in it. Whack it in the washing machine as per the tech-wash instructions, then put it out to dry. Use a tumble drier to unclump the down and give it it's loft back. I put a tennis ball in there too, to try and break up the clumps more, not sure how effective it is. Also, just as general care, if you notice that your downie isn't as lofty as it used to be, whack it in the drier for a bit (with or without a tennis ball) and it should fluff up the down. Dryer always on low heat.
Also google it for more ways to do it.
The enzymes in normal washing liquid can break down the natural fibres in down. I normally just wash my down with no washing liquid on gentle cycle. They come out clean and undamaged :)
Lookin for down with hood,or just simple windbreaker with hood to wear after tennis (little raining outside)
Inb4 down is disgusting
