Designed for optimal performance

By utilising high-precision 6.4 mm (1/4”) drivers, the EPH-W53 can be positioned in the ear so that unwanted sound reflections in the ear canal are suppressed. Whether listening casually or intently, Yamaha's unique musical expertise is employed with finely tuned performance optimised for on-the-go performance.

Eartips in 5 sizes

The eartips are crafted from 2 types of silicon materials. The part that touches the ear is soft to ensure comfort, while the part through which sound passes through provides both strength and flexibility for optimal sound performance. 5 different sizes of eartips are included - each optimised by adjusting the diameter-to-height ratio to allow the perfect fit and superior sound insulation.

Control at your fingertips

When connected to Bluetooth devices with voice control (ie- Siri), you can engage this feature from the EPH-W53. Additionally, the in-line control system has been specifically designed to ensure ease-of-use with only the sense of touch - utilising a concave design for the middle button.

Ready-to-go design

To ensure maximum comfort while on the go, the base of the earphone is designed so that the cable is angled outward and naturally runs along the neck. A specially-selected material was chosen for the cable to reduce noise caused by physical friction with clothing.

Ear Stabiliser

The shape of the housing and new stabiliser of the EPH-W53 were designed to maximise comfort and fit. The result is an earphone that feels comfortable and secure - even when worn for extended periods of time. To ensure a perfect fit, 3 ear stabilisers are provided of varying sizes.

yeah not a lot of reviews…been thinking about this jbl from jbhifi, on sale $72…we dont know if the $28 extra for the yamaha is worth it.

    • JBL are better. This is Yamaha's first attempt of bluetooth headphones — they're not that great.

      • Have you purchased and compared them?

@markis: so your answer to my question is that you have no idea. Allow me to round down the value of your '2 cents' to its actual value of 'zero'.

    • I have the JBLE25BT. They have streaming delays with computers and fall from ears at drop of hat

    • I personally just purchased these SoundPEATS Q30 (https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B079PQZ5PS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apap_…). See Amazon US for more reviews, but I'm pretty happy with the sound quality overall.

    • Yamaha have been making audio hardware for a long time and they don't do things by halves. They have a good reputation.

Based on reviews in Japanese, 90% positive comments, especially the sound with aptx support. They say it has really good sound under $200 category. Only negative things are fitting isn't that good(but most of people says it's more comfortable to wear) and Bluetooth range isn't that good(like within 10m) As the price is about 18000yen in Japan(200AUD) $100 is a good price.

  • Thanks OP - will give 'em a go at $99 delivered. ;)

  • Super happy with my Sol Republic shadow earphones ; comfort, sound and battery life all excellent for anyone looking for an alternative in this price range

FYI - Mine arrived yesterday. So far I have been able to pair them to my iPhone and laptop, tested phone calls and music, and they seem pretty good to me. I'm no audiophile, but the quality seems fine. Happy for $99. Thanks OP. :)

Hi All. I am the original poster of this deal. I received the headphones few days back and spent some time trying them. They are top notch. The build quality is superb. I am a fan of Yamaha AV Receivers and speakers. As a company with focus on sound equipment and music, they did a fantastic job on these. They are a steal for $99.

They have a fun V shaped sound with clear mids, perfect bass and slightly enhanced highs.

The fit is great. You need to get the fit right by plugging them into your ear and turning them a little to fit them perfectly. If you get it it right, then you get to enjoy the best sound quality.

    Overall

    Build Quality: 9/10

    Sound: 9/10

    Fit: 9/10

    • How far do they stick out of your ears. My current wired earphones sit quite flush, but I have seen some BT earphones look like Frankenstein bolts.

      • So, as with any in-ear headphones they provide different sizes of eartips. In addition to that they provide three sets of small stabilizers that go provide good fit against your ears. in the photo of the earphones, you see one end the eartips and the other end are the stabilizers. So, plug them into your ear and rotate them a little like a screw and they fit snugly into your ear. Hope that answers your question. They won't be huge like some of the sports and bose bluetooth earphones. At the same time they are not too small to fall easily.
