I agree with you that having a battery would be better, but I think what they mean by wireless in this sense, is that it connects to wifi, and is internet enabled (Chromecast support). I think it's just sort of differentiating from bluetooth speakers.
I know, I was just alerting people that might mistakenly think this is also portable, as I have made this mistake in the past.
Most non portable, wifi enabled speakers are listed as wireless. Just like your wireless router that's tethered to a 240v power pack or wall socket.
A bult in, rechargable battery would add considerably to the cost and weight (note the power draw of 30W). It would also benefit from waterproofing, a charge port, ips touch screen and possibly wheels to help move it between your rumpus room and the pool…
