This is my go to winter brew, and the cans are actually pretty good.

I remember the Australian brewed Guinness from about 15 years ago, horrible stuff.

      u eat the cans?

      • Dont you?

This worked for me in SA as well. Can wait to get beer delivered! Kilkenny and other beers are currently cheaper here then DM as well. Currently DM is $77.99 for Kilkenny compared to $56 here.

Dan Murphy is currently the most expensive place in SA to purchase Irish beer from what I can find so good to have an alternative with better pricing!

    • Dan's is $15 for a six pack of Kilkenny.

      • +3

Not is South Australia. They are $22.49! and the staff in store told me they would not price match other states. Dan's was a waste of time today!

Change your location to 5000 post code and see how much Dans wants to slog you. They are only doing that price in states to undercut Aldi.

Does anyone else have to yell "You Bast##ds" when someone mentions Kilkenny?

i'm only young but i thought guinness was more than 4.2%, what kind of stout is that lol

    • It's draught not stout version :)

      • It is technically a draught stout. Stout is the beer style. Draught is the delivery system. It means it is served artificially pressurized. So the cans emulate the co2 pressurized keg delivery.

Give me natural carbonation or none any day. But as a second I'd take a nitro creamy delivery.

give me brewed in ireland any day for guinness - there's no acceptable alternative :)

        • @tonester: Are there any stand out Irish craft or decent heavy beers available here? I've never seen any. I get beer from all over the world but Ireland is a country that is hideously unrepresented. It would be like judging Australian beerby Foster's. Unless Guinness is a good example….

        • +1

@Mobe1969: afaik none here :( nor possible anywhere besides guinness :)

        • @tonester:

It seems insane, doesn't it? I've no issue paying over $200 for a carton of craft beer from anywhere, and have plenty from all over the world and locally. But outside of the standard Irish beers I can't even think of a single Irish beer let alone and artisan Brewer or just a label with a good beer.

        • @Mobe1969: Plenty of amazing stouts (and imperial stouts) available in Australia, both locally brewed and from overseas. Google for your local craft beer bar. I could recommend some to check out in Sydney.

      • I see, what would they poor you in a bar on st.pats day draught or extra stout just reading about the different types.

  • is Kilkenny better than Guinness draught? I didn't like Guinness draught.

  • in VIC , Kilkenny Case of 24 $57.00,

Ah gee. Free shipping too. I'm going to have, even though I really only want a six-pack. I guess at that low alcohol, I'll drink them twice as fast…

Just be warned their free shipping is usually really bad, from prior experience, so don't be in a hurry…

  • Nifty, Guinness ahoy!

    Dreadful beer ๐Ÿ‘Ž

    • +1

Guinness draught I'd agree. But I have fond memories of the times I'd had Kilkenny's. Maybe I'd hate it now. I mean 80% of the beer I drink is over 10%, 99% over 7%. So Guinness draught tastes just watery to me now… Maybe Kilkenny's would be the same for me.

It might be like Wes Craven movies. Geez I loved them when I was a teenager decades back, but when I see most of them now I can't watch them, and prefer the modern hard nosed remakes…. Eg The Hills Have Eyes and Nightmare on Elm Street

      • lol. Wow i've only just upgraded to 7% it actually allows me to enjoy the taste and a feel hit of alcohol without going back to the fridge and getting drunk on lower stuff

        • +1

Well with the high stuff I only have one or two a night. More like drinking wine. Not like I'm downing six packs… :P

  • how much goon can i get for $40?

    • +3

Assuming 5L for about $10, 20L, which is something like 190 standard drinks.

      • don't die Iggemo

Delivery is convenient, but can you trust the delivery guy to drive smoothly and not shake up the beers?

    • +3

By the time you get it, itโ€™s already been delivered somewhere.

    • +1

no, but even if he drives smoothly who knows if he grabs your package and shakes it up in the back of his truck for half an hour by hand

  • How long does shipping take? I need it buy Friday

    • +2

Do click and collect. They use Toll who are garbage. I have a first choice 300m away and made the mistake of using the free shipping. It took 4 days . And I got an unable to deliver status (occupant not home) when my wife and myself were home (basically toll do this if they can't be bothered, say the recipient wasn't home. Toll are just rubbish.
