    That's a great price. These normally cost almost as much as a Pi themselves.

    Note you can pick up heatsinks and fans dirt cheap, and the case is setup to provide power to the fan.

      can you please link to a headsink/fan you think would be suitable? just bought the case, after that i need to buy the pi itself, an sd card, a heatsink, a fan, and get a controller, right? :)

        You don't really need a heatsink.

        I have one in a much simpler case and it's fine without a heatsink or fan.

          +1 Depends on what it'll be used for. I'm about to set one up as a PiAware for ADS-B aircraft tracking in an outdoor weatherproof enclosure with POE. For this application I'm definitely going to need a heatsink/fan.

          And that is good for….? I looked it up on the webpage, what the enterprise account includes, but what would one use the info for?

        They're only pocket change, so I figured why not, just in case. Saying that, I never had heat issues beforehand. I just thought it was good that this was worked into the design of the case.

        If you search on any of the Chinese online stores for Raspberry Pi Fan or Heatsink you'll find heaps for next to nothing.

        On my own, I only threw on a heat sink. Unless it's in a very enclosed space or outdoors, and running high loads, you should be fine.

        I have a couple of these cases. If you are setting up a retro gaming console, ensure you do use a fan and heatsink for PS1 games or N64 games (obviously roms of games you already own) as it can get hot and throttle CPU with the top of the case on. Heatsinks you can get for around $2 off ebay (dropped temp by about 5-6 degrees), fans you can get for cheap but they are noisy as hell, I ended up buying Noctua 40mm 5v fans (dropped the temp under load by around 15 degrees) and modifying the fan mount support to accept a 40mm fan (cut off all the supports and used high temp double sided tape for attaching new mounts) and it's silent unless you put your ears within around 15-20cm of the unit which you hear a slight whir noise.

      Fans? Even the NES Classic Mini doesn't need a fan does it. Seems less authentic with active cooling on a NES.

        I run up to dreamcast on a pi3 with passive cooling. Fans are optional.

          @AustriaBargain: I played through illbleed and berserk all the way through.
          Crazy taxi works, but the music is choppy so I don't really play it much.
          I play soul calibre sometimes, which works fine apart from a few graphical glitches.

        Yes, at the moment i have to disconnect a usb cable because the switch is under a desk. I will probably leave it on in future as I hope to run something like pihole and ntop off it in the future. Or give it to the kids. Not sure.

      Fantastic in my opinion. Can play pretty much everything up to PSX. Some issues with N64 ROMS.

      It can run up to PSX perfectly with the exception of Saturn.
      It runs a lot of N64 very well at 720p.
      With a little overclock, it can run some dreamcast games very well, and some are just 'playable'.

          Yeah, basically "what @nitropwd said plus some dreamcast"

          It includes PSX. I've tried my entire collection (about 20 games), all good.
          I count N64 as "just above PSX"
          And anything below also works except for Sega Saturn, which I haven't been able to get a single game to a playable state.

      Along with including ROMs, people were complaining that it used retroarch emulator cores. For the price it was going for there was zero chance of it using arm based software emulation, was just a NOAC like have been around for decades with an inbuilt multicart.

        Indeed. I am neither attacking or defending it. I just wanted to see what people's opinion was and I got it as it can be a real hit and miss here. People can upvote one to oblivion one week and then neg it to oblivion the next week. :)

        Now I'll eagerly await the arrival of the case for my own retro rig.

    Quick question for those running retropie, how easy is it to configure it run with game controllers such as the gamesir t1s?

    I have 3 seperate controllers, not all t1s which I would like to run wirelessly but not sure of the ease to setup or lag when gaming.

      I personally think Retropie is very over rated.

      If you want simple, go with Recall Box. If you want advanced, go with Lakka (my pick).

      I have 4 8bitdo controllers, setting up the bluetooth was easy (took 1 to 2 minutes of reading online and although it stated the connection failed to be created, after console restart it recognised all the controllers) and there is pretty much no input lag (the few milliseconds you expect from a PS3 controller or such)

    This is a near perfect case, my only gripe is that I don't like the placement of the ethernet, it would be better at the back than having the front open all the time with a cable coming out.

    I prefer to use the ethernet over wifi for streaming games from my PC using Parsec. Wifi causes too much latency.

    I guess I could cut into the back and plug direct into the board that way, it's just not ideal.

    I have one of these cases and they're great. I actually cut a hole in the side and mounted a SNES controller port there. You can connect the controller port directly to the GPIO pins and use regular SNES controllers without needing to buy a USB adapter.

    They've given me a shipping deadline of 2 May (after it was shipping on 3 March. They also want me to follow up with Australia Post. I'm pretty sure Australia Post will advise that it's the sender's responsibility to do that. My parcel isn't trackable by the Aus Post system (not from my end, anyway, who knows if it is trackable internally with Aus Post.
