  • Has anybody tried purchasing this with a new kogan account and then using it with an existing koganmobile account?

    • +1

You can't use it with an existing, but you can become a new existing customer :)

Just port out/in if you want to keep the number or if you are fine with a new number, just sign up as a new customer. I do it all the time. Once the sim is used up, I just sign up as a new customer. technically I would have to be existing customer since you can't cancel previous sims and would definitely have more than 5 sims active even though once used I just throw them.

      • Does it work out cheaper than buying the 12 month?

        • Only cheaper for the 1st 30 days.

        • +1

@lomie: but bargainparker repeatedly ports in and out so is able to use many times

        • +3

@TarquinOliverNimrod: Only up to the expiry, or until another deal comes up. Port in/out can get tiring after a while. It's ok if you don't need to be contactable all the time or can tolerate not having data while the porting process takes place.

        • @lomie: Spot on. I used to port in/out every month back when you could make a profit from Telstra prepaid, but nowadays prepaid 'deals' are $5-10 per month and a regular prepaid monthly offer is $10-15 per month, it isn't as attractive to go through the porting hassle anymore.

Once my last few Kogan/Boost/Telstra prepaid sims are spent (about 5 months left) I think I'll just go onto a yearly plan

        • Depends if you can be bothered with porting. Most of the time I just get a new sim. How often deals come around especially lately, it is cheaper to just get a new sim every time. Don't forget recent Kogan free sim, which made cost even lower. If you want to keep the same number, best is to get free sims when you can and just use it when needed.

I think what he means is, is it cheaper buying a $7.90 SIM every month, rather than going on a 12 month plan. Anyway, the answer is yes, but sometimes there are gaps of time when Kogan doesn't have these deals. So you might have it for month 1, month 2, then the deal disappears for month 3, back again month 4.

          @GregMonarch:

Good points, but why not port to an Optus $30/$40 sim pack ( usually go for $5-$20 on sale ), cheap Voda sim starter packs, Boost, Telstra all can be bought for half price or less.

Keep a few of each up your sleeve to port every 28-35 days, and slip in the Kogan Free/$5/7.90 XL sims in between.

Takes a bit of time and organising, but some of us have more time to spare than money lol

  • I bought a BOGOF Kogan deal yesterday. I'm wondering if i can get some of these too, activate these first to get me through to the 365 day deal cut-off date?

Anyone see any reason why not?

    • wondering this too. if I activate the cheap one month plan can I then add the 365 plan from yesterday or do I need to port out and back again?

      • +2

I doubt it, as the 365 activation is just a code voucher to add in once you are up and running with Kogan Mobile. I think it should work, and if it doesn't you only kiss goodbye to $7.90

my 365 voucher confimation email says this at the bottom…

"If you are already a Kogan Mobile customer, simply login to your account, click recharge, choose your plan type, then enter your voucher. You will not need a new SIM Card."

      • +2

No, you don’t need to port out/in. I did it last year, this one first as new customer, then apply a year one to top up. That 1 yr deal is like recharge

        • Thanks mate. Do they stack? Or do I have to add it on the last day?

        • @Bellpop: no they don’t stack

        • @Bellpop:

Cheapest way is to add the re-charge on the morning your credit expired, unless you have ran out of data early and want data straight away, then it will just override the old date and start from then for 365 expiry.

    • The following is from the T&C in the BOGOF deal:
Activation or recharge must be made before the voucher expiry date.
Valid for new and existing Kogan Mobile customers.

  • why would anyone get the small if the Extra large is exactly the same amount?

Even if you dont need it

    • Maybe for those who want to stay on the Small plan after the initial 30 days has gone.

      • Well… That makes sense. I forgot you might keep these sims past 1 month.

      • +2

When it comes to Kogan Mobile. If auto recharge isn't enabled then once the existing plan has expired the account reverts to no plan at all. And then you can select whatever plan you want from then. You don't need to stay with that Small plan after the 30 days. I started out on the Extra Large 30 day plan which was $7.90 last month and just today i went onto the Small plan for this month because it was only $16.90.

      • +1

You can change from large to small the last time I did. They’re quite flexible, u get what the voucher code is meant to be. I bought $1 large deal last year to start with them, then applied the 1 year small to continue. Worked with no hassle (I didn’t need to ‘change plan’, just entering my voucher code)

  • +3

Bring back the 1-dollar deal, 7.90 is too much :)

    • +1

Are the FREE not even better lol.

  • Links gone dead:-(
    Was previously OK…. suspect we Ozb'd it…

    • No. The sale is over that's why the link has gone dead.

      • oops, my bad observation, I'll eat an eneloop as punishment.

        • +4

This deal still continues. Kogan has hidden the links, but I've managed to get direct links simply by adding -790 to the URL.

  • Can anyone confirm if these can currently still be activated as NEW numbers?

The reason I'm asking is because they closed that loophole for their Free XL first month for new customers offer. Must port in now with that one.

    • If you click through the links, you will see the following in the description:

Want to keep your existing number? No problem. When signing up, you can choose to keep your existing number or get a new one – it’s that simple!

      • +2

Yeah, thanks,….I read that earlier too, but things are not always as they seem/as you read lol.

If you followed the post for the Kogan mobile free XL 23GB/30 day voucher for new customers the last two weeks you would know what I mean. Conditions can change without notice.

Can't beat getting it from the horses mouth, as in someone who has had this result recently.

  • XL 23GB back in stock now :-)

    • +1

      Still on.
