    Great specs but lots of possible issues raised last time. Anybody get one to give us a review?

    • +1

      Look at the last deal. Doesn't look good :( Shame, looks good on paper.

  • +5

    Before anyone asks…

    This has notification LED.

    • +3

      "For WatchNerd… Does this have a notification led? Yes, it does.*

      Too late, I was first.

      • +3

        Damn!!! Yes, you were.

        • +2

          That BrodenIT…
          He probably went back in time and added it.

        • I already asked in the last deal, but thanks for putting it in the description.

    • -1

      But no NFC. So no paying for the bus in 12-18 months.

      • Why not use the provided card?

        • +1

          QLD and NSW are getting rid of them. Soon it will be NFC or credit card.

          So NFC will be a big deal soon.

        • @PainToad: Translink (QLD) has denied they will be getting rid of Go cards. Time will tell…

        • @PinzVidz:

          Link? Everything I've seen had said otherwise.

        • +2

          @PinzVidz:
          percentage of phones that have NFC says not a chance in hell

        • @PainToad:

          Wait, so the only way to travel will be if you have a credit card or an NFC capable device?

          So how are people who can't get (or don't want) a credit card, nor a more expensive NFC-capable device expected to pay? Seniors? Young school kids? Low-income folks? Hey, anyone really.

          That's going to have the advocacy groups going nuts if it hasn't already.

        • +1

          @PinzVidz:

          Thanks.

          Yep, I've just done 20 minutes of Googling and everything I read says that they're adding contactless payments to the existing systems, not replacing the current cards.

        • +2

          @PainToad:

          You are making the claim.

          You need to provide the links.

        • @PinzVidz:

          Thanks :)

        • -2

          @surethang: lock the stubborn ones up until their tantrum is over. Japan never had an issue with rfid, every little kid know how to use it on the bus or train.

        • @payless69:

          It's not about being stubborn, it about expecting people to buy new phones despite their existing one working perfectly fine.

        • +1

          @payless69:

          Opal (NSW) and Go (QLD) cards are RFID, but PainToad claimed that they were being abandoned for contactless payment.

          That's definitely not the case.

        • +1

          @surethang:
          debit card

      • considering how many years it took and the $600M+ to deploy for ticketing system in melbourne, will be a while before we are using NFC for trams, trains or buses.

        Will be Myki to swiping and credit card for recharging for a few phone upgrades yet.

  • +3

    should this be a competitor here

  • band 28?Yes!

    • +3

      Seriously, is band 28 more important than notification led?

      • +3

        Yes, much.

      • Band 28 is a meme on Ozb.

  • how many did you buy?
    i havent seen the gumtree ad yet.

    • Zero

      • +1

        if you didnt buy any, hows it a good deal then?

        • Bought -10.

        • @BrodenIt:
          sadness

        • -1

          @BrodenIt:
          This is not the real Slim Shady !

  • +3

    I'm getting tempted.

    • +2

      Me too. As one of my current favourite backup phones I have a Xiomi Redmi Note 4 Global with B5 and not B28 and now tempted to get this as

      well with B28 but lacking B5 lol. Just as well I like variety :-)

      • I just switch to 3G if there are any signal/bandwidth issues. Works well for me, and I would say for 99%+ of everybody else.

        • +1

          Haha, I am part of your 1%, more like at least 5% of the population at least for some of their time/service spent on the move outside of good 3g/4g reception areas or often even where they live. For me, often if I don't get Voda b5 or Telstra/Optus b28 it either super slow or no go. People in cities forget how big Australia really is.

        • great ….. 50 Gb phone plan and run 3G ……

        • @garage sale: Dunno about you but I get 20 Megabit speeds (or more) in most areas on 3G. In many cases, the 3G network can be faster.

  • +1

    Reviews suggest its prone to overheating problems? In that case the battery wouldn't last long at all and on top of that, its non-removable.
    I'll pass this time.

    • +2

      As mention by "garage sale" from the last posting linked above, this seems to be isolated to a few people who most likely are maxing this out

      whilst gaming. For the average to moderate user, cpu and battery should perform well enough.

      Just wish this had a black face option instead of white only :-(

  • Can anyone suggest the cheapest handset with OTG?

  • IR-Blaster?

    • +2

      Yes

  • +1

    I got two last time for family and they're both rather fond of it.

  • According Product Details ,this phone supports ONLY 4G band.
    Am I right?

    Indonesian model support 3G and 4G (including Band5) though.
    https://www.sharp-indonesia.com/ind/product/konsumen/phone/1…

    • Supports all the common 3G frequencies too.

  • Does anyone know if this phone supports Android's camera2 api and raw sensor format?

  • Headphone jack?

    • Yes

  • Is there a phone like this, good quality but with dual sim, and around same price-ish

    I'm looking to replace a 5 year old, I think, Sony Xperia Z, so basic specs in comparison to current phones - will just use as a phone and web browser mostly.

    • -1

      Do you need dual sim? I don't know of any phones that can actually do 3G/4G on both sims at once, and there's not much point having 2G in Australia.

      • +3

        Plenty of phones from 2017 onwards can do 4G+3G.

      • Moto G5 plus.

    • +5

      LeRee, Le Pro 3 AI, LeEco Cool 1 Dual, Sharp Z2 (this phone) are all made by LeEco. Prices between 105-150USD. Only this one and Cool 1 Dual has microSD and 3.5mm earphone jack. The rest uses USB-C to 3.5mm adapter. All phones comes with Dual SIM 4g/3g or 3g/4g.

      • Good summary. Just a shame you can't switch from a strong fast 4G/B28 Optus or Telstra reception to a strong fast Vodafone 4G/B5

        reception as it's unfortunately lacking that band. If it was not for this, I would have jumped on this, yes, even a white faced model lol.

      • +1

        FYI - I recently purchased a Cool 1 from LITB - unfortunately they DO NOT have SD cardslot. They do however support OTG at least…

  • +2

    Damn good phone for this price.

    1080p screen
    Big battery
    Infrared
    Headphones jack
    Micro SD slot

    Anyone know if the camera is any good?

  • +3

    I bought this one on Sunday because CPU Cores: Deca Core, and CPU Frequency: 2.3GHz with added SD External Memory Capacity up to 128Gb unlike LeRee, Le Pro 3 doesn't have External Memory Capacity option.
    I paid lot more
    Subtotal (1 items): USD $115.19
    Shipping Charges & Insurance: USD $13.88
    Grand Total: USD $129.07

    I am not sure battery is good enough 3000ma for deca core..
    The camera seems to be less or average qualities comparing Samsung, iphone especially indoors..

    • +1

      deca core uses less power not more. It has 3 cpus of varying power and will use the weakest one needed for the task, which will consume less energy.

  • +3

    This looks like great for the price, I didn't even know SHARP made phones.
    Word of warning though: MediaTek SOC
    I've had a few of these and they're not as good as QC. I've had the following general issues on a few budget/mid-tier phones with these sorts of SOCs:
    -> Overheating
    -> Slower than equivalent QC
    -> Limited/no android updates
    -> Some games don't support it.

    That said, this is amazing for AU$115!

    • +2

      These are Foxconn from Taiwan, who bought the Sharp name.

      • Sad and to another Japanese brand :(

  • how would this compare to an s5 or Moto g3 2015 models

  • the left and right bezels are disgustingly huge -_-

    see review

    • I prefer that to protect the screen itself (from damage to the sides), after being dropped or something.

      • +1

        Comes with a clear case anyway. But seriously take a look at the vid. They could've made it the same thickness all around the screen but they didn't -_- If the face was black then it'd be way less noticeable too.

        • where does it say it comes with a case?

        • @lostn:

          well it did in the video review.

        • @lostn:

          Most of LeEco phones these day comes with a clear case in the box.

        • @HandsomeMonkey:

          Is this Sharp phone made by LeEco?

        • @lostn:

          Yes,

    • For a $150 phone it's OK. HTC U Ultra has pretty big bezel all around and HTC wanted $1000 for it when first released.

  • Bought one in the last deal and arrived 5 days ago - very happy with the package and not loaded with bloatware!

    I'm not tech expert but for me this is a great phone for a budget price

    • Hi Crippa
      What colour did you get?

  • How does the CPU compare to SD625 or 650?

    Android is only 6.0 btw.

  • What's the preferred colour silver or gold?

    • +1

      Both look nice. I went with gold.

  • +3

    Seriously for this price why would anyone spends $1500 on a iphone x? This will suit 90 percent of most users needs. Bought a silver one.
