  • dayam… last year it was free tix + $5.95 transaction cost.

    great spot though.

    • Yep last year was great……but 5$ each is still way cheaper then all the other alternatives…..there are 15000 tickets this year

      • I'm not sure how many people actually showed up last time, but I like that amount.

It wasn't too packed which made it a much better experience.

I hope 15,000 isn't going to be over crowded.

edit actually, aren't other alternatives = free? such as watching it from CQ or do you need to pay now?

        • yes but if you can get in by pushing through all the crowd. I'd rather pay $5 for this.

  • Sweet. I'm going to be in Sydney for NY and this looks like a good option as we are eating nearby beforehand. Thanks for the post!

  • I agree. Its good to pay and go relaxed rather than pushing through the crowd

  • Mmmmm you can buy tickets at their store in Sydney right?

  • just bought 10 :)

  • Adult $5.00
    Juniors (4 - 16) $3.00
    Family of 5 (2 Adults, 3 Jnrs) $15.00

    Great for families!

  • My wife said: how about if it rains?

    • Bring an umbrella!

  • will there be the music, you know, the pieces that go with the fireworks?
It will not be very excited if just fireworks without the exciting music.

    • I think the music is over the radio
      104.1 IIRC for last year's

  • How's the view? From what I can see of Barangaroo on Google Maps, it seems like you only get a good view of the bridge if you're near the edge closest to it. Would the headland or wharves be in the way if they pour fire off the bridge?

I think it really depends on how big the area is that they open up. lol I'm seriously considering buying these for my parents so I'd appreciate any comments from others who have watched the fireworks from there

    • +1

I noticed there's a document located at http://majorprojects.planning.nsw.gov.au/files/66419/Appendi… which gives an insight into the event. On page four they cover the sight lines to the Harbour Bridge and on page 7 is a map of the overall setup of the area.

I also noticed at http://www.flickr.com/photos/barangaroo/sets/721576238427737… there's photos from last year's event - definitely doesn't look too crowded at all!

      • Oh wow, thanks! Seems like a good place to view the fireworks, as long as you're not stuck in the back portion. Photos seem to be taken in the afternoon? I assume more people arrived later into the night, and now that it's on ozbargain, who knows how many people will be there!

I wonder if there's a way to be ensured a spot in the "green" area; can't see any information as to where the line is that separates the alcohol-free area from the licensed area.

  • Great for family's

however if people wanted a few drinks:

Please note that Barangaroo has a no BYO alcohol or glass policy, however alcohol will be available for sale this year from a licensed area. (guessing $$$)

  • "Tickets must be collected at least 24 hours before the event, there is no venue collect."

There is an extra trip just to collect the ticket as a deal breaker!

Why on earth we still need to go to collect the paper ticket in these modern computer world!? No wonder Labor Government are going down!

  • my tickets arrived in mail.

    • Maybe I was too late for sending it. Ended up picking up at Aquatic Center, waited 25 minutes with only 1 girl serving, got charged $4 for parking!
