  • naturopath? Quack, quack.
Walk out with a $300 hit to your credit card for herbal remedies for all the ailments you never knew.
If alternative medicine is shown to work, it is then called medicine.

  • Hmmmm, $19 for a remedial massage is a good price for a 30 minute session. If it is a "real" remedial massage then you will be able to claim it on your private health fund so it will end up even cheaper, possibly even free. If the provider does not have their provider numbers, don't bother, their qualifications are not up to scratch. As for the health assessment, make sure they are accredited also.

  • "Complimentary" is usually considered a more appropriate term than "alternative". Alternative implies replacing one modality with another. I would not tell a Diabetic to abandon their insulin but if they had a muscle injury I would suggest trying a massage if appropriate post medical assessment. Remedial massage - qualification important. As 7Alice7 suggests provider numbers - useful for private health fund rebates. Relaxation massage is always a treat!

    • I enjoy a massage too, but to say that back pain is "most likely" due to muscle knots is outrageous. Clearly you can expect no diagnostic skill.
Further, massage does not cure muscle spasm, but can help manage it and reduce pain.

      • Yes, assessment is important. Hence my vote for the use of "complementary".
