If you registered a .SCIENCE domain, on the cheap, eg, when they first became available, you might be shocked when later asked to pay, eg, $40 / year to Renew it…
Well, there may be a Cheaper way:
- Transfer it to another company
While they may charge for the Transfer, it may well cost Less than that $40 Renewal price you saw in an eMail.
And - Transfers add 1 year to your domain's registration period, at its new "home" (ie, the 2nd (or desto) registrar).
Although I know it's not always the most popular registrar, GoDaddy's transfer fee is ~US$ 8.00
which compares favourably with the $40.00 some may charge to renew by 1 year.
PS PingPonging between registrars may help you save on -each- future year's renewals.
Now, What -other- low-cost Transfer fees (beyond GoDaddy's) do we know about, Brain-Trust…? ;-)
Transferring a domain name to a different registrar is usually free.
Unless you pay the new registrar, I've never seen a transfer that extends the registration.
