Wow. The Å made me think of Stargate (the original TV show)

  • I covered the top of mine with marble vinyl, looks amazing.

  • Anyone know if this unit has the ability to be wall mounted? Thanks

    • +7

It is not designed to be wall mounted. The provided bracket is suitable to secure it from tipping but not keep it suspended. It is a lot heavier than most other floating Ikea products at around 40kg. You'd have to work out your own way to secure it with no guarantee that the product could handle it.

        Brilliant reply, thank you!

        • You're very welcome :D

  • How do I get the IKEA family membership and is it free?

    • +2

      yes it's free

      • Does IKEA AU offer price guarantee with this membership like their stores in the US? We bought and integrated dishwasher which is now $200 cheaper a week later. I will be calling them today to ask, but since this topic is on today.. nice to ask..

        • +1

Buy a new one at $200 cheaper, then return with the first receipt.

IKEA allows returns in one year's time.

        • @sky blu:

Thanks, it's been installed though. I see that HSBC has price protection so I will use that. Thanks again!

        • @KevinFine: Don't you get it? Return the newly purchased one with the first receipt.

        • +1

@sky blu: Thanks, I do get it now :) ..
          Thanks again

        • @KevinFine: Any time, amigo.

      apply online or instore.

you can print out a temporary card instore as well, whilst you wait for your plastic card to arrive.

      • I signed up when it first changed over, the system was really crappy and I didnt receive the voucher emails. Is there an online option to get a card sent to you?

        • What does the ikea website say?

        • @altomic: just brings me to my profile page to edit address or email. Not sure how to get to the order card page 😥

Dumb question, why does it need to be fixed to the wall?

    • +1

Well if you have children and they climb over the bench it won't flip over.

    • +5

      It's the drawers.

Any lightweight cabinet that has drawers, especially drawers on a high level, when filled with heavy items can act as a counterbalance and tip the cabinet forward when the drawer is pulled out, thus Pets/small children/dwarf partners/small beings can be crushed.

    • It's actually not so much that the drawers pose a tipping hazard for the actual tv bench, because the drawers are so low to the ground it is much harder to get it to completely tip over.

It needs to be secured because if someone (ie a child) tugs on it, especially with the draws open) it will cause it to lean towards them and any television sitting on top of it unsecured will fall straight onto them.

Even if you have your television wall mounted its still better to secure it, just in case. And if it's not wall mounted, secure the tv too :D

Mom only proud of him in the afternoon…

    Not available in WA/SA

    • :(

It is on sale in the Perth store - saw this afternoon near the checkouts.

    • :(

Fear not, we get the $19.99 TV bench!

      • 😂

    • Cheers luztra, just grabbed one from Ikea Perth!

    • Can confirm available in SA.

  • Wow, that is good value. We designed a cabinet very similar to that using the Besta range (interesting that we ended up with the same design). It's a big bigger longer and higher but significantly more expensive.

  • Gotta love some of these Ikea sales that have been coming up in the last few years.
Now if only I could get a dream job of assembling them part-time for people… tool belt only needs one tool!

    • Do it? Just join airtasker and make an ad. A friend of mine assembles and installs Ikea kitchens and he’s making absolute bank.

      • Airtasker!!! I completely forgot about that!!!
There's something about the simple instructions, the happy face of the little cartoon man and the satisfaction of completing a product that really is lots of fun. Now to make some coin!

  • Anyone knows if I can order now and get it delivered next month?

  • Anyone know if this will fit in a hatchback?

  • does anyone has experience with Air tasker to pickup from store and delivery to home ? I don't have big car to collect, thanks.

    • Just as an FYI I have a small hatchback, because the unit is flat packed there should be no issues particularly if you have fold down rear seats :) I fit a Queen
sized bed and 5 x 2m tall bookcases in my little hatch :)

      • thanks

  • damn. needed something of similar design but longer (at least 2m)

    • Get two?

      • then the compartment won't be in the middle.

        • +8

          Get three?

        • @railspider:

Hahahaha this is a good proposal.. 3 still come up to $297 onlu

  • good timing thanks

  • +1

Thanks OP. The ones my wife was looking at (not from IKEA) were over $1000

  • Will it fit in a toyota corolla 2011 sedan to transport??

    • I would like to know too

    • I'm guessing it will. You'd have to put the back seat down and possible have to fit it between the front seats.

    • Thanks OP. Just bought one. Plenty stock at IKEA Springvale. Fits in a Honda Jazz (hatch) with the back seats down and the passenger seat forward so should make it in a Corolla if you can put the back seats down. Won't fit in sideways across your back seat.

    • May also need to move the front passenger seat forward.

For those wondering about package dimensions and whether it'll fit in their car:

    Packages: 2
    Width Height Length Weight
    43 cm 7 cm 171 cm - 19.80 kg
    42 cm 5 cm 171 cm - 21.80 kg

  • Great deal. Would have been even better if I could share the delivery cost with someone to the city :)

  • This product requires assembly.

    Who'd have thought?!
