  • Any chance 5G comes in time for the next iPhone? ( thinking of moving from iPhone 6 but dont want to end up with a non 5G phone)

    • +7

      I doubt it.

    • From what I have read will be new pre 5g chips but not full 5g for whatever thats worth

    • I think qualcomm who is the main maker of 5G chips is in a lawsuit with apple. Wouldnt hold my breath if this is the case.

      • when the carriers eg telstra optus voda offer 5G , they will also have a handset for the service , just like band 28, and samsung s5 was one of the first phones when it first came out and now even cheap aussie phones have band 28.

apple won’t want to miss the market for 5G and have samsung, huawei or zte on the telstra or optus shelf for 5G and not an iphone, and telstra and optus would already be trialing handsets with suppliers for compliance and functionality.

if you need 5G wait, if you don’t, then just get iphone 8 or X.
iphone 8 already does over 70mbit in inner city where band 28 and aggregation is available.

        • I am holding out for an S10. I am assuming or hoping it has a 5G chip although I don't use data heaps anyway.

        • +3

          I don’t think anyone ‘needs’ 5G…

  • +8

Iphone 8 much better value, moving on

      slow clap

      • Mi A1**

        • no australian warranty, no band 28.

      • *Any android phone. Now fixed, humblest of apologies good sir.

  • +5

    It's slightly cheaper here for both colours;

They are both AU stock and come with a GST invoice which you can use to claim TRS. Have posted deals from this seller in the past and haven't seen any issues regarding this being local stock or problems in claiming TRS.

    • Cheers!

    • Just bought my iPhone 8 from these guys and shipping was lightning fast.

  • Tempting with TRS :)

    • Can I buy with Litecoin?

      • +1

        No. Only with dogecoin.

    $1590.., is this a computer?

    • +4

In fact I just scored an Lenovo laptop with an 8th gen i5, 256GB ssd, 8GB RAM, and a spill proof keyboard for $892 a week ago on a valentines day deal. $1590 for a phone? I suppose there are a certain kind of people who would suck it up, but they've a fat chance with me and you (and a lot of ozbargainers).

      • same , i pay $500 for. phone and buy a laptop top ….. can’t type resume on a phone but you can on a laptop.

      • +1

I'm so happy with my iPhone SE that I picked up for less than $400.

I'd rather spend $400 on a cheap phone and $1600 on a good laptop than $1600 on a good phone and $400 on a low-end laptop.

The laptop is going to last longer, is less likely to be lost, and is going to be a whole lot more usable for real work than the phone. How much speed and screen real estate do you really need for texting and on-the-go checking websites anyway?

    • +5

      is this a computer?

Yep, it's more personal and used way more often and in more locations than my laptop and desktop PC combined.

      • phones are a tool for content consumption , laptops are tools for content creation. so it depends what people do. uploading selfies isn’t really useful content creation.

hard to type a thesis or run cad to create drawings, or even write a resume on a phone.

  • +11

Lol $1,500+. Apple can go suck a fat one.

Google/Samsung are where it's at now

    • +8

      Until they do the same.

    • Absolutely!

    • +13

      Well…pixel 2 xl 128gb $1549….

    • +1

they aren’t cheaper for their flagship phones how much for pixel 2 xl with same storage ?

Slowdown on iPhone X production should be a good indicator on whether this phone is worth buying…

Samsung Galaxy S10 might have to use leftover iPhone X screens haha

    • +3

People at the factory were allowed unlimited overtime for a while to meet production. That showed a much better indication of whether it was worth buying.

      • Yeh initially hype. Now this after reviews, common sense kicked in : https://www.reuters.com/article/us-samsung-elec-oled/samsung…

        • +1

it’s like bit coin, people want the ever increasing demand to keep on going, then reality kicks in , same for google and samsung on flagships ……. it’s a lot of money for only an incremental increase in features …….. and lots of cheaper high quality options on the market, and in china iphone is a status symbol like wearing an expensive watch, you are so successful, you can afford it.

but then Rolex is doing ok selling $10,000 watches that tell the time the same as a $1000 watch, though not as prestigious.

        • @garage sale: $10 quartz watches probably tell the time just as well as Rolex watches.

  • that ugly bump tho…

  • -2

The S9 plus will surely be more expensive than this price

Don’t know how people keep up with this stuff

Maybe the Reserve Bank can raise the rates a few percent

    No problemo

  • Good deal for local stock

  • +2

Bought one X 256GB for me wife from Ausluck, Most expensive phone I ever bought.
Only to hope happy wife happy life. :)
I am still using my iPhone 5S, and it is A 16GB :(

    • +2

You'll have happy wife happy life… for less than a year.. until iPhone X2 came out

  • I found this one but not sure if it's AU stock.

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Apple-iPhone-X-256GB-Unlocked-Sm…

It ends up being $1463.20 so me thinks it's a grey import plus the fact it comes from Hong Kong.

  • Does this have Apple Australia Warranty? Can I price beat at Officeworks?

    • +1

apple honour warranty globally, bigger discussion seems to be the apple global warranty is 12mths but apple in australia give 2 years ( haven’t checked from their web site exactly what that covers) ….. but then with such an expensive item do people cover it with apple care anyway for year 3 etc which would also cover you if overseas and you walk into an apple store.

not sure if an overseas apple store honours the australian 2 year warranty as it’d country specific, or just gives you 12 mths global e.g australian phone 18 months old and take into apple store in USA.

  • +1

    iv'e bought cars for less…

  • slightly cheaper au stock through ausluck (albeit different warranty terms)

    APPLE iPHONE X 256GB SILVER $1,583.20

Any chance of getting Officeworks to match this deal, they told me Allphones is in administration and went all snooty when I showed them the mobileciti link. Is there any chance they'll match Ausluck?

    • There is no reason that OW shoud not match mobileciti unless its coupon code discounted.
