very good price but these type of external hard drive take up so much space + 1 power point + more cables.

I am leaning toward the more portable 2.5" model.

or if I am rich, will go for an external SSD drive.

    • i got the 4tb portable WD one around Xmas, it was $199 less 20% $159. they seemed to have increase it to $209, but still would go for portable

    • usually you take the externals and put them in your internals

      • aahhhhh…….
        Good thinking!

and I will get a SATA Caddy bay instead.
        that could work.

        • once inside a pc they use sata bus not usb bus ….. sata bus is much faster , usb bus is memory transfers are done by cpu so sata transfers free up cpu compared to usb 3.

depends what you use your drives for , eg backups, storage expansion for games etc.

    • especially if for laptop use, or xbox storage expansion storage.

  • i think the hope is that they are wd red inside which is a nas 24x7 duty cycle drive, and they could be shucked for use inside a pc off the data connectors or into a nas, the 2.5” drives are targeted at less arduous duty cycle. though more appealing for back ups as you can put in a safe place incase pc stolen or house fire.
